Yeah, step 1/sponsorship approval actually used to be even shorter than a month - it was as short as a week about a year ago. I actually dodged a bullet applying when I did because the month after I filed in May - June - the processing time went up from 1 month to two. The AOR thing is something new; CPC-M did not used to communicate with the sponsor until decision made (unless they were returning the paperwork due to incompleteness). Another thing that's new since I applied chez CPC-M is that they print the visa file number as well as the Client ID (for the sponsor) on the sponsorship approval letter (used to be just the latter and one would have to wait for the visa file number from the VO). Who knows, maybe this extra administrative stuff has actually slowed them down. I know it's very useful to people though.

My theory regarding the application processing times is that it could relate to the health of the world economy. Possibly applications have increased because certain countries are experiencing greater hardships than in the past, just a theory.
There is certainly a lot more red tape these days. I remember getting a 3 year work permit for self-employment in Canada about 15 years ago and it was so fast and easy.
This is actually my second PR application in the past year... the first was a Provincial Nominee declined because my prospective employer was a few days late submitting the necessary supporting documents later requested by Immigration. Before that I had 4? work permits declined for similar minor varied issues. I get the impression they look for any chance to decline an application due to their tremendous work load.
Well this time I spent about 6 months going over my application with a fine toothed comb, so here's hoping!

Just a question..

when they request for passport, do they email the person being sponsored or it is an actual letter?

I think you get an actual letter, but you might also be able to check it on eCAS.

It all depends on the VO and the IO.

Passport Request. :)

Welcome!

Hi guys, question. I am planning to send my job certificate to CPC-M, since when I mailed our app I was still job searching, I just want to keep my info as updated as possible, and maybe it could help my sponsorship approval (even if I know that there is no minimum income required) lol ;D
Question is, even if I mail thru Canada post , is it ok to send it to the Robert Speck address and not the PO Box?

would appreciate a feedback batchmates =) Thanks!

Does anyone happen to know what day / time of day (time zone) they update the processing times on:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

I thought it was Tuesdays, but last week it happened on a Wednesday, Pacific time. Maybe it's just random, whenever they get around to it?

Hi Xavier14, when we got our PPR request, we got it via e-mail. If you receive anything from CIC via e-mail, they will not mail any hard copy to you.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Sponsorship approval processing times Wednesdays, e-CAS usually Tuesdays. Timezone would be for Ontario so Eastern Standard.

I don't think it matters which address yo use, as long as you do not courier to the po box.

You being being the principal applicant, are you not supposed to wait to send any additional info to your visa office directly once you have received your client I'd number? Opposed to sending anything to Mississauga... My understanding is that Mississauga is for the sponsor only. Hopefully someone else can clarify that for you :)

Maybe you can fax a copy of your job certificate to CPC-M but don't forget to quote your UCI (your id number on your pr card). Or you can call the cic call center to get a better answer. :)

I wouldn't worry about it. You're very likely to get approved as a sponsor anyway, and in fact they may already have made that decision by the time your letter arrives at CPC-M and is united with its parent file, so to speak, so it would be kind of pointless. You don't need to meet an income requirement to sponsor someone in the spousal category, by the way. As long as you are not getting welfare (except for disability) and are not bankrupt (well, there are other reasons for being denied but I won't go into the full list), your sponsorship undertaking will be approved. And once they send it to the VO, there will be less reason for the IO to note your employment because that portion of the processing concerns mainly the applicant for PR and not the sponsor.
