So happy for you :) A great new year's gift. Can you tell me when you receive your AOR? I sent out mine 22nd of Sept and i haven't heard anything yet. Just wondering...

Congrats!
Hi zeloyyy,

No I didn't receive AOR. They told me that it is because I sent the package by courier.

Hope you receive your OWP soon.

Good luck!

Congrats!

The date shown on your work permit- is its expiry date (exactly 2 years since it has been issued). Cic tends to give a two-year work permit for inland spousal sponsorship applications (with some exceptions, of course). And unfortunately it doesn't guarantee that you'll get pr by then.

Thank you!

I know I will get my PR by the end! I have faith!

Yes, I submitted both PR and OWP at the same time since they returned my PR application in the first try

I just notice that the website for processing times has been changed, and now only shows the total processing time, which has a little extra information:
"Many more people want to immigrate to Canada than the Government of Canada can bring in each year under our annual immigration plan. Applications received after the maximum has been met may have to wait longer to be processed."
It suggest that there will be a cap for the spousal sponsorship like for the parent's sponsorship. Anyone find anything else on this?

Hey guys.
I submitted my PR application under spousal category on 11th May 2015 and got my 1st AOR on 17th July 2015. When I check online it says application on 11/5/2015 and 'In Progress' from 28/7/2015. Any idea how long is it going to take for the next step. Thanks
hey, there is a thread dedicated to ECAS (online) status explanation, that might help to understand what's going on with your application.

Hey Sophieee,

I am just reading this thread about the changed timelines

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cic-has-changed-the-way-you-view-processing-times-t391285.0.html

I haven't read all of it yet, but hope to find some info on what does that mean

Hi everyone... I am a refused refugee claimant, and my wife is sponsoring me in Canada. But the issue is I cannot obtain a valid passport from the embassy. I know that CIC is requesting a passport/travel document, so would I be able to submit a copy of my travel document instead?

hi, i am about to sponsor my wife, she is already in Canada as a visitor , once we sent the sponsorship and PR application (also OWP) , we will be waiting for the result.

while waiting, let's say we go on holiday (within the 6 months stay of her last entry) , and she will be denied to re-entry ?
i don't see why she will be denied to come back if she holds a visa-exempt passport?

She could be. It's up to the officer. If they don't feel satisfied that she will leave if she doesn't get PR then she can be denied. Be knowledgable of 'duel intent.'

Hello All,

I need your help as my wife has already got the open work permit, but Service Ontario is not giving her the OHIP as she doesn't have a job.
Is there any other way she can be eligible for OHIP coverage

Thanks

OK, so looks like from the new processing timelines thread there is no quota/cap. (not sure how ppl can know this, but this is what's stated on the thread)
For inlands the processing timeline went down from 28 month to 26 month
For outlands it is a bigger problem b/c there were visa offices working much quicker than 18 month, but know this is the number of month the link shows for outlands regardless the VO.

I also searched for this statement : "many more people want to immigrate to canada than the government of canada can bring in each year under our annual immigration plan. applications received after the maximum has been met may have to wait longer to be processed." but could not find it on the CIC website. It looks like this statement is removed now?

It appears once you click on the question mark beside the months.

sorry to be bearer of this news, but looks like there is no other way

http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/ohip/ohip_eligibility.aspx

from the eligibility list 2 of the listed criteria would be applicable for your wife:

1)you have submitted an application for permanent residence in Canada, and Citizenship and Immigration Canada has confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada ;
this means you have to pass the first stage of the process, which is AIP and then you can apply

2)you are a foreign worker who holds a valid work permit or other document issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) permitting you to work in Canada, and you also have a formal agreement in place to work full-time for an employer situated in Ontario which sets out the employer's name, your occupation, and confirmation that you will be working for no less than six consecutive months;

I am not sure if this depends on the agent at service Ontario, but definitely they can apply this category for your wife if they want, and from your post it seems that this is what they wanted to do. However it means she needs a employment letter from an employer which states either that she is going to be employed for longer than 6 months OR that her employment is permanent. This gives assurance that she will pay her share in the system while taking out from it as well.

hope this helps!

OIC Thanks.

I just asked Ponga and Aquakitty on the other thread how can we be sure there is no cap. I also wonder if an MP should get confirmation on this.
