Just to make sure:

You don't need the LMIA to apply for the OWP under the one year pilot, right?

That's right. No LMIA is needed.

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the medical exam:

i am an applicant in May 2014. I did my medical exam in 2013; and submitted my medical exam with my inland application in May 2014. Early Jan 2015, I got my OWP with conditions :'cannot work in school or healthcare'. Does this mean my medical exam is expired? should I re-do my medical exam again and re-submit?

thank you and look forward to hear from your advice!

1. It's believed to take about 4 months after CIC receives your application.

2. No idea, because CIC has been `forgetting' to send AOR to a lot of applicants lately!

I am a March 2014 applicant, and I received AOR by email today. So, while I see that it typically takes 2 months, mine took 10.

What troubles me about this is that I was under the impression that my AOR should have been sent after 2 or 3 months, but just didn't. Now I'm worried my application was just delayed 8 months for no particular reason.

what is the date the AOR says your application was received? i believe processing goes by THAT date, not the date AOR was issued. also, there are many applicants who don't receive AOR at all. this doesn't mean CIC doesn't process the application, it just means they didn't send an AOR.

Hi All,

For those of you in Ontario who may be interested in listening or calling in - CBC Radio One is devoting its lunchtime 'Ontario Today' show to Inland spousal sponsorship today. It might be a good chance to have your voices heard.

The date is April 2, 2014. So presumably this email took 10 months to reach me.

yep. or they just opened the application now and issued the AOR. either way, your applicaiton will be processed by the "received" date. it rreally doesn't matter when the AOR was sent or received. all that really matters is the date CIC considers the application received.

What is stated on OWP has nothing to do with your medical exam for PR application. All what it means is that, as OWP holder, you cannot work in school or healthcare industry in Canada. That's it, regardless if you have PR application pending or not.

Hi All,

Would like to update that I received my OWP this morning from CIC. :P

Glad to see some traction - however, I am still unable to check my status on the CIC website which kinda worries me. ???

Applied : June 10, 2014
AOR : August 08, 2014
OWP : January 22, 2015

I applied June 5, 2014 and I also can't see my status online... Sigh. I got my AOR same day as you!

Hi, may I ask yo anyone knows the answer please. How long is the process to get an open work permit for spousal? And how long it will be valid? Thank you in advance.

I think the processing time is 3-4 months. It is valid for 2 years, or the passport's expiration, whichever comes first.
