1. When you say "not to go back", you mean quitting or just taking a semester off? I don't know when your study permit expires, but as long as your student permit is valid, you are student status whether or not you're in school or not..

2. I'm pretty sure you are on implied status if you applied for owp.. But i would say you will have to explain why you need owp when you apply for it, because i think you can't be on study permit & work permit at the same time as far as i know (expect Off Campus Work permit)

my study permit doesn't expire until 2016. I'm still a student even if I take a semester off? I did not know this! I'm currently working on my second degree and I am 26. I was thinking about applying for the OWP be cause I'd really, really like to put this degree on the back burner and start a career since I'm 26 and my immigration has obviously kept me from starting one yet. I'll finish the degree most likely, but maybe over the course of a few years. I'd absolutely be willing to surrender my student permit at the time of receiving OWP. I didn't even give any thought into these complications.

just as a side note, I took the eligibility quiz on the CIC website and input all of my data correctly IE I'm a student who "has received AIP" (which would be the case if I'm being considered for OWP) and it says I'm eligible to apply for OWP.

I'm guessing when I get OWP my student visa will be void?

Hi everyone! Just giving an update on what I found out about my implied status as per the CIC. If I do not return to school next semester, I am still considered to be on implied status because of my OWP application. I CAN have a student visa and an OWP at the same time, but for my student visa to be valid, I need to follow all of the rules associated with that visa. That's what the CIC agent said and she sent me documents to my email validating what she said.

Hope this helps someone else in the future!

Hi everyone,

I couldn't help noticing that everyone who has sent Inland applications in 2014 has sent them to the Vegreville office.

We are sending our Inland application on Monday, and now we are a bit confused.

According to the information obtained from
cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp

which is the "Applying for permanent residence from within Canada: Spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (IMM 5289)" Guide, it is saying to submit to

In-Canada sponsorship
CPC ― Mississauga
P. O. Box 5040, Station B
Mississauga, Ontario
L5A 3A4

and the same address is on the updated Document Checklist (IMM 5443).

We were all set to submit to the Mississauga office, until I noticed this difference.

Can anyone clear this up??

Thanks !!

I think you meant you were all set to send it to the Vegreville office, right?

Hmmm...no idea why they changed that. Looks like the site was updated a few days ago (15 Jan).
I can't imagine that it's a typo...ok, yes I can. ;)

Might be worth calling CIC first thing Monday to find out for sure.

I just checked the site and yes they changed the address, just to be sure, call cic on minday before submitting your application.

Interesting, I'm hoping that if we started at Vegreville we continue that way? My latest email still says to send followup stuff to Vegreville.

Wow this is interesting... When we were applying a week ago, the address on IMM5443was Vegreville..

And I haven't seen it before I sent my app on Friday... But I hope they will still accept the applications for a while...
The work permits are still expected in Vegreville, hope it won't change.

By the way, at what number can you reach CIC? I tried a few, but they never answerd.

In the meantime I created a spreadsheet and I'm willing to manage it if it's OK with you

I think the applications that are sent to Mississauga are for family members living abroad (without the sponsor living in Canada)

Look here: http://iica-cdii.ca/english/CIC-Offices.php

And this website explains a little about the differences between CPC-Vegreville and CPC-Mississauga as well: http://immlawyer.blogs.com/my_weblog/2013/09/

Thank you for volunteering to make the spreadsheet, Sophie!

We filed our apps only a week apart.. :-)

Let's hope we get our AOR soon!
