Just checking in! I hope everyone is keeping their head up! Hopefully they start working soon, but don't forget that sooner or later our time will come and it will be one of the happiest days of our lives!

My husband's (Brazilian) application was received January 29/14 and he/we received notice from CIC May 14/14 confirming the receipt of the sponsorship/PR application. As I keep watch on it, they have not done anything.

In the meantime, hubby had to extend his visa (which we just got approval of). He applied for a year extension, but it is only valid until October 25/14.

I'm just a little discouraged. He cannot work until they approve my application as sponsor and it just seems like a never ending road. We've been married for 5 years - why on earth doesn't the system go faster for couples that have been together for a substantial amount of time and have children together.

Just need to vent a little.

I'm in an exact same situation, applied for PR at the end of Jan, then for visitor extension, and I also got only 6 months for no reason.
I've added you to the spreadsheet, hope you don't mind, and please send me a message if you want to share any more detail.

Hello all,

I applied for a visa extension for my wife, she is from a visa exempt country but her 6 months expired in December and here visa extension was expiring on June 30th. We applied for inland sponsorship in feb 2nd got AOR in May. I let them know in the visa extension application that she is being sponsored inland.
I received the visa extension in the mail yesterday and they only gave her until Augsut 29th 2014!!!!.then it says "Must leave Canada by 08-29-2014". Seriously, why do that? so that I have to pay again for another visa extension!! I really doubt she is going to get DM before August 29th at the pace they are going. I am so dissapointed.

sorry for the frustration if anyone has any advice please let me know.

That's insane... Like a bad joke... What proof did you send about the inland app? Did you write an explanation letter?

yeah I did. attached the same letter I had attached on the original visa extension. Like you said is like a bad joke.

Shouldn't have applied just for an extension. Apply for an OWP instead this time.

Did you apply OWP together with the PR application? From my understanding so far, if you did, you are in implied status and don't need to apply for extension.

No I did not apply for an OWP because at the time I filled out the app I did not know you could apply for a OWP at the same time. I had called the call centre and they told me I could only apply for OWP once I got AIP.
