YAA!!!!!!!! Congrats AchankengCrawford and Lorelei!!! Awesome way to start off the week!! :)

Did you both get the SA & AIP?

Yup hubby and me both got the emails.

Mine goes like this :This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or
Common-Law Partner in Canada Class.
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent
residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that
a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent
resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks
for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they
are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident
until you and all your family members have met these requirements.
IMPORTANT: Passports for yourself and your family members must be valid for the duration of
your stay in Canada.
Decision on Your Work Permit Application
You will receive separate correspondence regarding your work permit application

And the rest of the email is when I should contact cic. So I guess that means they don't want anything more from us.

Oh,yeah, also I wish for everybody on this forum to get theirs AIP's and OWP's very soon. :-*

Congratulations! Happy to see good news on a Monday morning! Hopefully many more AIP 's will follow this week!

Yes...a bit strange the wording.

If you were out of status, wouldn't the issuing of an OWP then give you full legal status??

No. The OWP would be a `pseudo-status' document but would have something on it that says "This is not a residency document" (or similar).

The only way for a person that applied without status to get full legal status, would be when s/he finally has their CoPR...or if they opted to leave Canada and were successful re-entering prior to CoPR...which would seem risky, IMHO.

Is there any august 22 in the forum?
According to the spreadsheet not.... Today I'm getting a little bit nervous, only 6 people to go on the spreadsheet and then it's our turn!!

Congrats all Aug 21 who received their AIP today. Lets hope they finish August applications this week and start September next week. (I'm September applicant)!!!!!

Do they issue OWPs to ppl who are out of Status??

Our Implied Status is sort of a grey area, cuz we have the receipt and proof that we sent in a Visitor Visa Extension request, but we never got an answer about it. But we did apply before my husband's Status Expired....so technically he's got the "Implied".

Yes, they will issue the OWP but it will not be the same as a `normal' OWP that a person that did have status, receives. It still allows the person to work, but doesn't officially restore their legal status.

I also applied for a visitor visa extension but in my case I received by mail the approval along with a visitor record. I applied for a extension about 2 months before my original visa expired

hello all my waiting buddies,

it took all this time to arrive in our mail box!!! But finally we got our AIP letters, both of us. no further documents are required, but they say that my OWP will be processed later. I don't really know what that means and where will it be processed? in Mississauga or in Vegreville where we had it sent?
We both are happy today and I think of all of you and wish the good news comes soon for you too. Congratulations to those who got AIP these last days and today!!!!
