hey @ crester!
uhmmmm good point! :S i was so excited i didnt ask which of the two letters appeared as sent! im guessing is the mysterious letter that only quebec applicants receive :) i read that after you receive it you have only 5 days to send it back so better have documents in hand.
but if the agent says that montreal has 6-8 to program your landing, im guessing that when they send the mysterious letter, they already have you booked in a date only waiting your reply to confirm it... and if you do not reply fast, then they put you back in line...
let me know if you hear something :)

god bless and good luck
No matter which letter you will receive, it's a huge progress!!! Thank you for letting us know that and big congratulations to you again! I'm so happy for you! :D

Hello.
bartjones said:
GCMS mean Global Case Management System. ATIP means Access To Information and Privacy. Basically your GCMS notes are just a record of notes the visa office has made in reviewing and assessing your application. It can provide you with information regarding what the visa office has done so far on your file.

That question was discussed here recently. The consensus seemed to be that if you order the notes in electronic form it has no impact on the length of the application process since they just pull the notes out of the database in electronic form and email them to you. This is all done by the access to information folks. The visa office has nothing to do with providing the notes in digital form.

Both can do it, but if the sponsor requests the principal applicant's notes, the principal applicant must sign a consent which you upload with your request. If you need the consent form it is here. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5744E.pdf

I don't know what this means.

You can order them online here https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/.

Five dollars. Notes arrive by email 30 days later.

There is a very helpful video showing you exactly how to do it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_E_dq_uLVo

If you just filed your application, the notes will probably not tell you very much. Unless you have a specific concern with your application, I'd wait until the application has been in process at least 6 or 7 months before ordering.
Congratulations to all who are making progress!!! Good luck and God Bless us all!

Need Help

Me and my bf were dating for 5 years and then got married in 2013. Since my parents did not agree with our relationship so we secretly got married to I can sponsor him without my family find out it. Since my family condition was that he needs to get PR first before they agree to our wedding. So I decided to sponsor him secretly. I changed all the addresses but continue living with parents so they wont able to find out coz i was scared they might call immigration and try to screw our application. so everything went smooth we got AIP in Feb and now waiting for DM. so my dad does always my tax so he filed my tax as a single. Although I changed the address with CRA when I asked for Option C but i never told them that i m married coz i did not know until now. Now my dad filed my tax as a single. question is will CIC will find out about it if we filed as a single or wat do we do? ??? ???

My husband also filed his taxes as a single, because I don't have a SIN number, so he wasn't able to include me and file it as married. I don't think that this will cause any problem with CIC.

Then your husband did not file properly. Whether or not you have a SIN, he must declare his marital status and your income so that CRA can properly compute tax credits to which he is entitled.

If you need to file a tax return (because you are a deemed resident for Canadian tax purposes - and that has NOTHING to do with being a resident for immigration purposes) then you can obtain an ITN (which is a special kind of SIN that CRA issues). The forms are on the CRA website - as is the form for advising CRA that he is married.

CRA and CIC are government bodies but they are different while dealing with residents. I am not so pro as many fellows here but I assume that CIC wont know about you filling your tax return as single . I dont know about option C as I am in Quebec but if it state anything about your marital status , you then need to write an explanation letter to CIC telling them why you had to fill your tax return as single. otherwise they wont find it out.

Thank you @ computergeek for clearing this up. Indeed, my hubby's accountant put me as a dependant, I do not have or had a SIN number (i came as a student not a worker) and he declares me even before marriage (common-law). Since we got married, hubby does declare as married for both gouv. quebec and canada... thats why it seemed weird to me what @ sophieee said...
@sophieee you definitely should check that out with your hubby's accountant!

Hello everyone :)
I am about to fill my APP. the police certificates I brought have a 3 months validity according to the countries who issued it. the certificates took two months till I got them. So they are expired now as 3 months has already passed. I didnt leave Canada for a year now. I am wondering if CIC will request me to provide new PC?
Should I write an explanation letter with the PC?
Thanks :)

It is worth noting that CIC cannot access CRA records without written permission to do so - much like CRA cannot access CIC records without permission to do so. Usually permission means either the affected person's permission OR an order from a Court.

Agreed. Government bodies in general don't have the ability to communicate, especially with personal details of residents, outside of being ordered to.

It sucks to hear but you should get new certificates asap.CIC seems to be strict on this plus putting an explanation letter for pilice clearance expired seems suspicious to CIC

Still getting into this form.... Here is a bit about our current standing. They requested a little more info on where my husband has stayed when in the states. He has had multiple work visa's and visitor visa's in the past 7 years as we have saved up the money to apply for the immigration process.

Category: Family/Spouse
Visa Office: Vegreville... but it has been sent to Mississauga now
Application Submitted: October, 2013
Application Received: November, 2013
Visitor visa: Extended for 2 years (we were shocked that they gave him one for that long)
Medical: done
IRS clearance: done
Fee: Paid

I agree with computergeek. Based on my knowledge as an accountant, he need to declare as married and put you on dependant as long as you live with the tax payer. It is because for tax filing purpose, Family structure need to be based on fact instead of status of dependant.

To give you an easy example: A foreign expariate who is relocate to canadian subsidiary for 1 year(more than 183) accompanied with his wife need to file his tax return in canada for the year and add his house wife as dependant.
