This makes no sense. The previous posts clearly show what BC MSP's own policy is in determining who is eligible...which also includes those with a sponsorship application that has been received by CIC.

Read the second post in this thread.

Ponga just telling you like it is. Went up to the special branch dealing with documents and the supervisor of the division. No way. have it in writing. The sponser must be approved to get medical. Nothing to be done. Only thing left was to appeal to the minister of health so I didn't bother. You can argue all you want but that's what they tell you over and over.

Hi all,

Heres my latest news: Had my medical and that has been sent to CIC. However had the dreaded call from the doctors office - they wanted to discuss something with me!

Turns out there is something showing on my chest x-ray and to quote the doctor 'CIC will want that investigated'. So an appointment has been made with a specialist on Feb 6th. It's going to cost $200.

There is some good news in this story though. The doctor just made a passing comment that some do have their medical card at this point in the residency process.

I checked yesterday on the Ontario health site. It seems that as CIC have said yes in principle and I have a work permit I can get Ontario health coverage!

Went today and in 10 mins I had a health card! Woohoo! No consultant fee now, and I can afford to get sick lol.

So for all of you who are in Ontario: AIP and a work permit = Health coverage!

Cheers all
Col

That is sooooo good to know. I need OHIP so bad...
Thanks for sharing!

I'm not arguing...just telling you what their own website shows...and shared information from one respected member here that forced them to `get it right'.

And they did.

Too bad you don't feel empowered to continue, but I understand your fatigue.

Re: INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013:

As a sponsored spouse, I recved my OWP in January 2014.

Do I have to file taxes on my own this year? (I don't have a job yet). Or will I be included in my husband's tax returns as a dependent?

Thinking of you, hockeyfan! I'm always hoping for good news from those of you who are waiting oh so patiently.

I know that as soon as we send our app my waiting will begin but it's so nice to hear good news from people on the forum. It gives me hope for my future.

Hi Everyone:

I think the OWP is losed, if you find a job think you can start to work just with lettre from CIC like you OWP is approved i hope that

Not sure if that would even work. You would need a SIN to legally work. Without your SIN, you cannot work as you must provide this to your employer once hired. Without a SIN, the employer cannot legally hire you.

OWP took only 15 days to be processed, applying online after AIP. Tricky to apply but it's worth it. 8)

Great! So the online OWP did work for you. Why do you say it's tricky?
