Hello and Congrats to everyone with good news!

I have a question about the police check. My wife came to Canada as a foreign exchange student before she's 18 (she's still is a foreign exchange student); is it true that she does not need a police check from her own country?

Also, does anyone have experience sponsoring a foreign exchange student? Is there anything I should be on a lookout for?

Many thanks in advance for the helps.

While technically true, visa officers often ask for a PCC from the country of birth anyway. So while not required, it is a good idea to get one pre-emptively if you can reasonably do so.

Yo estoy listo desde hace como un año, jaja. Mandé los docs a la embajada en méxico justo cuando comenzó la huelga y no supe nada más. Espero que lo hayan tramitado y enviado a Vegreville.

You have an open work permit? If so, you don't need to inform CIC that you have changed jobs.

I'm the sponsor for my husband so I was worried that if they called my old place of work and my old employer said I no longer worked there that CIC would not let the sponsorship go through. :/

My Wife also came when she was under 18, we still got the police report w/ official translation etc... from her home country. It took about 2 months to obtain so safer to get it now rather than later in case they want it. She's been in Canada for 8 years, and has been in Canada longer than she's been in any other country (including her home country) haha...

Still no call today for appointment :(

Suspense is killing me!!

It's like 11:59 on Christmas Eve (for those that celebrate) and you keep looking for that fat man to show up in your fireplace, right?!?! LOL!

One trick, to reach a human, is to press 1...then 3...then 0 (with a short pause between them).

Well that worked..!! Thank you..

I spoke to an agent he changed my address. he did tell me that the current waiting time for Etobicoke is 4 months so I will hear something until May.
It would be great if it is sooner but I do not complain, if at least I can be with m family next Christmas….
