Guys!! I got AIP :)

It says I meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident status! It says we need to do a medical and background checks as well. Now we aren't sure about the background check!? Is that police certificates from where I used to live? (England and Denmark) or just Canada?

It doesn't state anything about paying the other half of the immigration fee as well, which we still need to do obviously?!

Also I can see on the email that they are still having our old address - but changed it on ecas, what should I do in this case?

I am so happy I am shaking guys! I guess it's not DM though or? :)

I had a feeling today would be your day! Congratulations, Line.a! :) So happy for you and your partner!

Grats Line.A on the AIP!

You do NOT need to do anything for Canada - they will retrieve your RCMP information directly. The only time that you need something here is if they ask for you to do a fingerprint check (because there is a partial match of your information with someone's record. The fingerprints disambiguate who you are from the person with the criminal record.) You need criminal records checks from every country in which you have lived since the age of 18.

Normally they don't say that until you've been approved.

Ask them to update it in their files when you send in the PCCs.

We did include a work permit along with the pr application but it doesn't mention anything but being able to apply for it!

Some people report not hearing for a week or two. I'd guess you will hear soon though.

They cannot give you DM if you haven't done a medical or submitted police certificates. If you had done those things up front you might have been a simultaneous DM, but those are statutory requirements so you MUST do them.

Congratulations!

Thank you so much, we did include police checks along with the application however. One brand new one sent from Denmark and one older one from England however!

I must have skipped that part of the email, just read it again and it says I got approved for a work permit, they are gonna send it to our old address.. Should I call them and ask them to send it to our new address?

Thanks once again :)

Thanks guys! You were all right, I worried too much haha! I am glad we are one step closer now! We couldn't have done it without your help, so I can't thank you enough for that! Hopefully we hear more good news, and congrats to Milena for her AIP plus DM :)

It's possible the PCCs are now 12+ months old and they want current ones.

I hope you paid Canada Post for forwarding? Otherwise, you should call the centre asap. My concern is that if it says you were approved then it's probably already in the mail. If you have a way of contacting the person at your old address they might be willing to give it to you as well if it shows up there.

I hope they are officially onto March applicants!!!!

I may crap my pants when I see CIC's email.

We are still in good contact with our old landlord and I recall him saying that if we had any important mail coming our way, we should contact him and that way he will talk to the new residents! So maybe that would be a good idea! Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this means to me :)

Also I am extremely eager to get health care. Would there be a chance of me going to the registry and with these two emails printed out and see if they will accept it? We live in Alberta :)

[congrats Line.a u really deserve it after waiting for so long hopefully you will get Dm soon after u provide cic with those documents. I also want you guys to know this I applied back in May of last year and we moved in June and I changed my address online immediately but I just called cic and they still had my old address so I had to give her my info and she changed it in their database.so my advise to you my friends if u do move before the process is over after changing your address online please call cic to make sure it has been changed do not rely on what it shows on ecas.
