Hello everyone I was referred to this forum from the great Canadian wait thread. My application was sent around March 16th,2013. where can I go to check my application status n how long are your police certificates valid, I think mine passed d 3 month timeline.

HELLO! I am new here :) been following these threads and finally joined! I sent my entire package (medicals and RPRF included) by courier on friday to Vegreville and it arrived today! I am from New Zealand, married to a Canadian, applying Inland.

Can someone tell me what happens next? Im presuming I will receive a AOR (what is this?) and how will I receive it?

Thanks all!

Hi Laura8388,

Welcome to the long wait of the permanent residency application. AOR is an Acknowledgement of Receipt from Immigration. It is important in the sense that it is CIC´s communication/confirmation of your file number and also they inform you when they started processing your application. These days people are receiving AOR's within 4 weeks. Once you get this file number you will be able to access your file online.

Following your AOR, Immigration will assess your sponsor which normally takes about 6 months according to CIC website but again every case is different, it could be less than 6 months. If your sponsor is eligible you will receive an Approved-In-Principle (AIP) via email or mail. Some people receive an email and mail. If you sent an open work permit application with your application you will receive the permit shortly after you receive the AIP.

Once first stage is completed, they checkout your police certificates for all the countries you have been to for 6 months from the time you turned 18. They also do a background check as well as your medicals. If all is well with your application you get a decision made letter or email which will basically be confirming your success and informing you that a Visa office closer to where you live will be contacting you for your landing interview.

Well I have tried to explain to the best of my understanding, I hope all will go well with your application. I have been going through the 2012 applications and I have observed that a few people got the whole process completed within 6 months. I hope that they deal with our applications that fast. All the best. :)

My sponsor received the AOR via post he never got an email. Some people get both as I mentioned before. Always check your junk email as well. Good luck.......

:)thank you! It's sure stressful but fingers crossed we did everything required!

Hi Minime,

You will have to wait until you receive your AOR, hopefully you will receive this AOR within the month. To access e-CAS which is on the CIC website under application status, you will need to use the client identification number that will be on your AOR. I received my AOR 19 days after sending my application so hopefully you will receive yours anytime.

I think police certificates are valid for 3 months from the time you obtain them. If you passed the 3 month deadline you could either wait for CIC to request for new police certificates or you could get new police certificates that you can send to CIC once you receive your AOR.

This is my understanding hope this helps.

Thx salsa 131 I obtained my option c print. Out from crazy but not my t4 I just photocopied the one I got from my work......is that OK or would they send back my application

Dang I totally forgot to get the Option C printout for my wife who's sponsoring me..... :( I hope it doesn't delay my application too badly...

I also work fulltime though, and I provided my wife's and my own T4 slips. Should that be enough? I made a few mistakes in my PR app already....

It may cause a delay because on the document checklist it says reason for most delays are sponsor didn't sign the form or option c n t4 printouts not in application. Hopefully they don't return your application n just request the missing info

Thanks for the answer i will get to work on getting them asap! They haven't wrote me or anything yet......

Is the option C print out the Notice of assessment? Because I only sent the original notice of assessment and it was fine. My application was completed.

@ hockey fan I suggest u wait until they contact you

@jenny12345 yes option c is the notice of assessment
