INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Newbie here. I applied and received my inland family class on Feb. 13, 2013 as Common-Law.
My sponsor got the AOR last March 7, 2013. I've been checking posts in here if January applicants
have their AIP yet. As I've been researching any news/updates related to our concerns. I've noticed that
AORs are now being processed faster. That saying, I am hoping that our AIPs get processed faster as well since before it took 3 months just to get AOR and 2-3 months for AIP. It won't make sense that it will still take 5-6 months to get our AIPs knowing CIC normally process Stage 1 in almost 3 months after AOR.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Feb 13, 2013. - Appln received
Mar 07, 2013 - AOR received

OWP

Hi all,
I forgot to send in my OWP application with my PR forms. I know I can send it in anytime during the application process, but do I have to pay the $75 fee, or is the processing fee included in the RP application fees?

Thanks all
C

Hello everyone,

I am new here, both in Canada and on this forum. Please add me to the spreadsheet.

My inland application was received at Vegreville centre on March 11th.

I received my AOR today on March 21st. I was really excited. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

I also mailed in my medical checkup, police clearance (still waiting for the one from the FBI though), and OWP.

Hi UKZippy,

The fee for OWP application is $150 (instead of $75 visa extension). And yes you will have to pay extra for the open work permit.

Ahh, thanks trana,

Thought I might have to pay more on top of the PR fee ::)

AOR's are definitely coming out a lot faster than last year. It used to take 3 months, now it takes less than a month, for some, even 10 days. We are all really hoping this would result in faster AIP's as well. In the past, it took ~3 months after AOR to get AIP. If that's the case, January applicants should start recieving AIP's around late April/early May.

Fingers crossed!

Hey All,

One thing, I forgot to tick the right box for my Open Work Permit and checked it as "A work permit with the same employer." :( Can I just re-send the application along with a note saying I didn't tick the correct box? And I want an open work permit so I can work with a new employer?

Thanks,

Better to leave it the way it is. They'll probably issue an open work permit anyways since that's what they're supposed to issue with an inland spousal PR application. I personally think sending them extra stuff when the application is under process usually delays it. But thats just my thought.

The thing is I am currently working on a valid post graduation work permit with a company. But I don't want to be limited in who I can work for.... Probably best to send a note along?

Thanks,

If you don't qualify for a new closed PGWP but do qualify for an OWP, I'd expect them to issue the correct OWP.

I'd be shocked if they could match up your corrected form with the original form.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I guess I'll just hope and pray that they issue me the correct open work permit and it won't be a closed one. Also, my PGWP is already an open work permit. Don't know if that matters...

Me? Oh, I had a very long and complex route. The second application went fast, but the first application took 2.5 years for the rejection. I challenged the rejection of the first application (a skilled worker app) but realizing that I had an ~ 4% chance of prevailing started the second (family class) application in parallel. My odds of prevailing went up quite a bit and by September it looked like I was likely to prevail (hearing in October). So, rather than lose CIC's lawyer made some calls and my application was completed quickly.

I prepared the second application on my own, though, and if it had not been completed correctly that pressure would not have been enough to complete the process quickly.
