According to their new and still useless phone system, they are still stuck on July 30. And processing times are 13 months. Should we be concerned that they seem to fail at math?

I am going to call local MP for help if I still don't hear anything in a month... It is getting ridiculous that Stage 2 even takes longer than 8 months.

The call centre agent kept saying "The 8 months is AVERAGE for processing".... Maybe you shouldn't put 8 months on your website if you can't keep this timeline....

check this link http://www.canadaworkvisa.ca/info/nafta1.php

If you are an American Citizen seeking to work in Canada, you may have a very good chance getting a workpermit without going through HRDC. Its under NAFTA agreement. Google around and you will find more info.

I have actually been worried about this exact same thing. I'd be more worried if it was July 31st instead though. I thought maybe they would just cancel the Inland sponsorship program kinda like the cancelling of the Immigration Investor program. It would be unlikely though as right now there is more than a year of applications they have received after July 30th 2013.

Question: Could the applicants waiting for AIP currently apply for a "temporary RESIDENT permit" ?

note: resident permit is different than visitor visa, but it is not clear for me the eligibility rules ... my point is: as we didnt get the AIP until now, maybe we can apply for a resident permit and we can get an open work permit. What do u think guys ? Tks !

Temporary resident permits are for people who would normally be inadmissible to Canada, usually due to criminal issues.

If you now have AIP, you are eligible to apply for an OWP. Why would you even need a TRP?

I do not have an OWP now, I am August 2013 applicant
But it doesnt make sense to allow the resident permit holders to get an OWP easier
For that reason, I am asking if my interpretation about it was correct ? (it seems it was ... unfortunately!!)

Sigh I'm so depressed now. My husband sent an email to Mississauga office but I'm not surprised no response at all. It was about my GSCM notes that indicates the Eligibility Assessment is indicates as passed.

Get your MP to inquire. But there is a rumor from MPs that in October, most of July August September files will be all cleared and so on. Again, rumor only, but there've been 2 people confirming the same thing their MPs told them.
I learned that from the Facebook page. everyday some new interesting info shared by people.

It is definitely frightening that something like 2008 CEC could happen. But I'm optimistic that soon they will have to start working on the 13 months of applications, and they continue to receive inland applications everyday. Another point is that sponsorship aim to reunite family, and CEC is based on experience, skills and work ability only (and It's not an excuse to end the application in the middle anyway). If they going to cancel inland applications, they should have stop receiving them already, and process the ones already received.

But in my humble opinion, they are worried with citizenship backlog and the new express entry, and inland sponsorship agents were reassign for other matters, since they are short on staff after salary raise that came with the strike. It can be anything really, but in my view they allowing to delay inland sponsorship to improve other matters in a political view (what they think it looks better for them as a campaign that promised immigration reform).

Maybe they've spent the last 7-8 months working on the new phone system and that's why so few AIPs have been processed. ;)

Hi there Civic, I really do appreciate your always responding my posts. I would like to thank you for that. Right now , I'm feeling a bit emotional. I'm very sad knowing the fact that we can not do anything about this issues that hundreds of family are waiting. But when you mentioned about what MP ' s said I'm just hoping that this is going to be true. I will pray harder for all of us who are waiting for so long.
