Sooo....Did anyone else do this when their application was sent in?

I have been obsessively on the UPS website hitting the update button and crossing my fingers each time to see the “Delivered” Status….

I seriously can’t stop…..lol

To those have you who have been around a bit longer….the 10 month (October 12) processing time shown on the CIC website…How often do they seem to update this on average??

I wonder how many Applications they receive per day on average anyways…..

Hi ACS,

I had a similar thought, how many applications do they receive everyday (specifically inland applications). Tried to search it online sometime back, but could not get good information on this. However, I was able to find this website, which kinda goes over the whole immigration number (http://www.immigrationwatchcanada.org/)

To answer your question about updating the processing time, CIC only managed to move the processing date by a week from Oct 5 2012 date to Oct 12 2012 since March 2013. I was trying to keep track of how often they move the processing date but since CIC is so slow, I gave up on it.

On a positive note, CIC will update the date tomorrow and hopefully it will move forward. Who knows, maybe some of our friends on this forum who applied last year may get a positive response from them.

Wow!! That certainly isn't much progress.... they only processed 1 weeks worth of Applications in 5 months?!? Is there something going on that we don't know about? I guess that would certainly account for the Processing time jump from 6 to 10 months.....

Hi All,
I had a question regarding my driver’s license situation and was wondering if anyone else is in similar situation.

I applied for my PR in March 2013 and since then have been driving on my US license in Edmonton, Alberta. My US drivers license will expire in Sept 2013, and I can’t get it renewed as I am not going back to US.

I was wondering if anyone knows whether I can exchange my US License for Canadian license. I am currently on visitor’s visa and waiting for stage 1 approval which will probably happen in Jan 2014 based on 10 month processing time.

Thanks,
Niks1

Yes I believe so. Try go to the registry and they will probably mail a Canadian out or give you a temporary one.

But you'd probably have to bring proof that you applied for PR or wait till you got OWP!

I'm not sure if Alberta is the same as Ontario ... but here you do not need to prove any kind of residency to exchange your licence like-for-like. Two pieces of ID, a vision test (at their office), and your US licence (as long as it is currently valid on the day you are exchanging it!!). I'd also bring some piece of mail with your address on it just in case, although this isn't usually necessary.

Technically, if you have been living in the country for 30 days or more the law says you *have* to exchange your licence - regardless of whether or not you are a perm resident of the country. If you have an address here, that's what needs to be on your licence. And consequently, you need to have Canadian insurance, and Canadian licence plates on your car (if it came from the US) if you plan on driving.

It was the same when I was in the UK - I exchanged my Ontario licence like-for-like for an English one, and they did not ask for proof of residency. They were more concerned about getting me a UK licence so an insurance company could insure me to drive.

Hope that was a little helpful :)

Yes you should be able to. I know in Ontario, driver's license processing is completely independent of immigration status.

... While we're on the subject of driver's licenses... Hubby's G2 class DL is about to expire. He wants to take the G test before it does but we're wondering if he's able to go and do that while he's on implied status?
