I thought for sure that our application was going to get the stink-eye as well. My husband and I had a whirl-wind relationship. We met in March 2012 over the internet (dating site), met in person in April 2012, moved to another province together in September 2012, were engaged in November 2012 and married in January of 2013. We applied April 2013. Our parents didn't attend our wedding.Daizey said:I do worry sometimes too, just because the first half of our relationship was online...all we had were like 30 pages of internet chat messages as proof of relationship, as well as just a couple of pictures from when we visited each other. I always tell my husband, it would have been so much easier if we hadn't lived so far apart...just imagine how easy it would have been if I lived down the street, or worked close to him and happened to meet him at a coffee shop or something. I just really hope whoever actually works on our application is open to people finding love over the internet...
We weren't interviewed and received AIP in 10 months, DM a month after that and landed soon after.
For those on the outside looking in, it could have been a disaster. We provided a strong application: text messages that showed the development of our relationship, letters from family and friends, vacation photos and flight itineraries as well as movie stubs, birthday cards etc.
Believe in your relationship. If you get interviewed, so what? It's your opportunity to prove to them how real your relationship actually is. Statistically, online dating is second only to meeting someone through friends... which is the "traditional" way.
EDIT:
I love the quote in your signature! It's been a favourite of mine for a while, more so recently when my husband gets all high-strung on this PR card waiting time.
