I really don't understand why there is so much delay just because applications have been transferred to another office.
Are the officers in Mississauga all new and they are training them or something?
Or they all felt asleep or decided to take a very long vacation?
How am I gonna tell my wife the time has gone up to 9 months again and there are no one who has heard from CPC-M?
I try to be patient and cheer up my wife (she's the applicant) while we are waiting for the AIP and OWP, but this is so frustrating!!!!!

Going up! :( 9 month!!Keep positive guys and hope for the best! By the way timeline is moving looks like is going in bad direction like when they Where on strike :(
It makes no sense, because CPC-V continues to give DM faster than normal... and AIP's are so delayed... So transferring the files to CPC-M did delay the process at this point, unlike they said.

I'm so happy for everyone getting DM's before expected, don't get me wrong... but people waiting for AIP are also waiting to continue with their lives, like work permit, health care, and any gov documents, being on implied status or visitor status don't give you much. Especially if you have to wait for 9 months. And when you call, they have no clue.. they just say exactly what's on the website. Frustrating.

I can relate to many of you here, it really sucks and makes you feel useless sitting at home and not being able to contribute or start your life. Sigh, we just have to hang in there

I'm an October 2013 applicant was hoping to get my OWP by the beginning of july so I could go to a concert on the niagara/US border with my girlfriend. I'm afraid to leave/re enter canada while my application is in process. I am here basically on implied status, would it negatively affect my application if i were to leave for half a day and come back? Would I even be allowed to re-enter on just a passport alone? (I'm a US citizen). If not i guess i will have to relay the bad news to my common law partner :(.

I can only tell you what I've been told by my lawyer (I'm from the US as well)...

You can leave but you're not guaranteed entry back into the country. You can try coming back through with all of the information you've received so far (copies of paperwork you submitted with application, letter from lawyer if you have one, letters from CIC stating they've received your application) and you may have no trouble. However, it's totally up to the person at the border. They don't HAVE to let you back in. So it's to your own discretion. Believe me I know, it sucks...I've been feeling homesick and its only a couple days drive to get back home to see my family and friends, but we don't want to risk it!

I was told by the CIC officer during my citizenship interview that only people having valid student or work permit are able to return back.

Let's face it though, border agents can do whatever they want. My visitor visa had run out when I had gone to the US to marry my husband, and when we drove back we had all the paperwork we were going to file (we had not filed yet) along with our marriage certificate, and told them we were going to be applying for sponsorship, and they let me back in for two weeks. We then filed our application so now I'm on implied status. He definitely had the right to turn me away, but he didn't.

It is risky. But less likely turned away with status and or a criminal free background for sure. I was traveling with my husband before AIP last month, the border officer never asked me anything in regards to my PR application. Only asked to see my PGWP

Edit: Its been 9 months 2 days for me. Should I be expecting good news? I doubt it. I understand how you guys feel. Equally frustrated and losing hope each day...

Oh yes, it is extremely risky, and I wouldn't suggest it if you don't absolutely HAVE to leave for some reason.

Definitely wouldn't risk it for a concert, as the OP had mentioned :)

haha i risked it for simply a vacation.. in thailand and all over south east asia. WORTH IT! :p AIP was 11 months the time we booked our vacation (remember those days?) have a feeling it might go back to 11 months again like post-strike era.. if CPC-M doesn't start working....

You and me both! I've had to turn down tons of offers of jobs, from family friends, and even from the place where my husband works...I just want to help with our financial situation so badly! This update, while I knew it was going to happen, literally brought me to tears...so tired of waiting...I want to get on with my life! Get a job, pay down our debt, look for a new house together, and start a family. Stupid paperwork...
I know exactly what you mean, feeling so useless and helpless, not earning money and that is putting that much pressure on my hubby.
what the h*** are they doing there in CIC-M? there can't be that much applicants from july *th that it takes more than 3 weeks to go though them!!! grrrrrh, realy frustating

I am telling you. Polar bears go into hibernation in winter and CPC-M officers go into hibernation in spring!!

Did you include an OWP with your Inland application?

Hopefully you are aware that filing an Inland application does not give you implied status, in and of itself.

Yes I did send an OWP with my application, and yes I know I'm not completely safe, which is why I have no plans of trying to leave the country anytime soon. My lawyer just told me once I've filed they won't be trying to force me out of the country. I know I was just trusting him, but at the time I had no one else to go to for any idea of how any of this works. Now that I know more, I know he hasn't really given me a ton of accurate information. Kind of makes me mad at the amount of money we've already spent on him and how much we still have to after the process is complete.
