I have updated my earlier post that has confused a few here. ;D

2. As ignorant as this may sound, once i get PR do i even need work visa?

Permanent residents are not eligible for work permits. I had a pending renewal (applied in august, PR received in October) and by the time they got to the application (November) they returned it stating I was not eligible for a work permit. They also (another month later) refunded the $150 work permit application fee.

Technically, I was covered under "implied status" until the day I crossed the border into the US. At that point I lost implied status, but since I turned around and landed it didn't matter (since I no longer needed nor was eligible for a work permit).

I just got my email for AIP and OWP! Was NOT expecting this at all. Huge breath of relief, HUGE.

So, it's been taking about two weeks to get the permit in the mail?

Oh, and I can just use the AIP email to sign up for healthcare?

I'M SO EXCITED AND HAPPY!!! ;D

Application(including medical) received: Mar 27,13
AIP, OWP, & DM recieved: Jan 16, 14
Landing appointment: Feb 19, 14
Landing Office: Edmonton

They sent my appointment letter to my old address cuz their computer system didn't update properly. They received the returning mail and just called me if I would be available that day to land. Hell ya of course! No more waiting game for me!!!

Guys, I just remembered one of the best things about applying inland today... Tim Hortons has "Roll up the Rim."

Lol, I found that out today and me and the hubby went straight to Tim Hortons! I would definitely miss that coffee if I wasn't here! My best friend was up here for our wedding and now I've got her addicted, I have to order her some to be shipped to the southern US every now and then!
