You can search and apply for jobs while you are waiting for a work permit. There's nothing wrong with that. If a prospective employer wants to hire you right away just tell him you are waiting for your work permit.

Guys, wanna ask a question and see if anyone ran into the same situation before. We sent the OWP application and paid the fee upfront along with the PR application. I think the OWP should be approved with AIP and should be indicated on the AIP. The one for us only says that we can apply for OWP, which doesn't seem right. Any thoughts?

Hi folks g. Congratulations. This is very inspiring. Just this week, you were waiting for aip and owp, and next week, you will be working. Nice. If you dont mind me asking, did you stadt your job search already prior to approval? Cause i think i wanna do that too but i dont know if thats recommended as I do not know yet when my time would come.

yess shyla36 I was searching for job postings all the time even if I did not hv owp it really does help when you do get it so start looking. I would also recommend registering with a tem agency when u get owp it really does help get your feet in the door to land a permanent job.

Thanks for this folks g. Sorry what is a tem agency? I will surely start looking for one. I am soooo eager to work. Ive worked all my life so i am missing it a lot plus need some money too to help hubby pay bills.

seems we have this in common, Shyla36, I have also worked all my live and have quit a very good and well paid job to come with my husband to canada. staying at home and being a housewife is just 'the hardest job' I ever had.

Hi guys, I have a question that's not quite related to PR applications, but I couldn't find a good topic on it in the tax forum...

How do you guys show the sponsored spouse on your tax returns? Do you have a temporary tax number?

My spouse moved here at the end of 2012 and we didn't have a temporary number for filing so we used the '000 000 000' SIN; this year I think we'll have a SIN to use since the OWP will come through in time...

Basically it's all needlessly complicated but I'd like to know how you all handle it..

You can mention that your spouse is not a resident and he doesnt have SIN . he doesnt work in Canada so he doesnt have any income .his income worldwide is 0.
There is another option ,that if ur spouse would apply for some tax benefits, he would first apply to obtain temporarily SIN card . using this form

Wow frenchwapiti. We have a lot in common. I did that too. Left a high paying job for the so called true love. Haha. Ive travelled so much because of my former work and sometimes i feel sad that im just here at home, doing nothing etc. plus, missing family so much. Yes, we are all on the same boat but i am ooozing with positive vibes for us. Wohoo cant wait for that good news!!!

its employment agencies usually they pay less but when u get hired by the company you will get a salary bump . Many companies in canada use tem agencies to fill in temporary jobs but if you a hard worker you get hired.its tough finding a decently paid job so remember you have to start somewhere

hello Harmin, please calm down, I am sure it is just an administrative problem, don't worry, once they see what is inside, there will be no reason to not release it. It is not against you, please be positive and don't desperate. let the long weekend pass and you will get the happy news, I am soooo sure about it. I cross my fingers for you. Now, forget about it for a few days and take you partner ou for a nice dinner or a movie or just a walk, change your mind. keep smiling, it is a hard and struggling way to PR and you are going to win this battle.

I'm sorry to hear that Line.a. And they won't send it again until February 19th, right? You can still apply for jobs, in the meantime. Just explain that your OWP is in the mail. Hopefully you'll have it before they'd need you to start.

I didn't hear anything today...again the dreaded 'weekend wait'. Tomorrow my partner and I are going for a hike with our dogs at a nearby provincial park. It's actually called Birds Hill! I will bring some bread or seed to feed the birds. I have never heard of this bringing good luck, but I love animals and nature, and I am going to give it a try. Thank you for sharing!

JLynn, that is actually a very good idea, I have also 2 dogs (4month old black labs) and each time I take them for a hike , I feel happy, because they love us back sooo much and going out in the nature is always very good for a stressed mind. enjoy your hike, your partner and your dogs and live in general. things will advance next week and also or you good news will come soon.
