For our medical we paid $195 in total. $140 for the exam, and $55 for an x-ray.

Another question.. How do you know when your file is transfered? So far, when I log in to the 'check application status' site, it tells me the application was received on March 25, 2013 and they started processing the application April 4, 2013.

Is the next step for the sponsorship to be approved? OR file transferred? Why does the file get transferred/when/who to?

Sorry for my ignorance.... theres so many three letter terms used on this page and I am never sure what they mean!

Thanks all :)

Thank you Dawlex and Laura! It is quite a difference. Bebecharmed, when we log in to the CIC website it says "we received your application on Jan. 23, 2013" and "we started processing your application on Feb. 12, 2013". I thought AIP stood for application in process. Maybe I'm wrong? :-[

AIP = approved in principles. That would be Stage 1 approval for Inland applications (when you would get your work permit).

Inland applications are not usually transferred - they are processed entirely in Vegreville. They CAN be transferred if there are questions requiring a local office process your application, but that's generally an indication of some sort of issue.

If you have children outside Canada, they will be processed by the relevant overseas visa office.

Garden! You can grow vegetables that will help your food budget out. That's one of my activities.

Hi Guys,

I am almost 2 hours on this portal and read almost all threads and want to put across few queiries before roll

I am flying in as tourist visa ( taking a short holiday) to Canada and get married considering we met on portal ( both of us have previous marriage- talked to almost a year before taking a decision to move ahead and considering applying for Inland application as final thought yet not confirmed. She is Canadian citizen and I hold Indian passport -though traveled widely with a good professional career.

Queries in my mind
1. Is it good to apply inland right now (seeing the current log 2013) or out-land
2. Considering my choice to stay back in Canada with no rights to work- makes me bit scary though
3. What is the time we looking for overall process for inland
4. If I visit Canada and we decided to go inland (what documents i should carry before hand prior to my travel)

Any help is much appreciated.

1. Out-land is faster, for what I see an average of 4 months faster.
2. I have been here on that situation for 3 1/2 years, if you think you'll go crazy I can assure you it's really hard.
3. Depends, they are now as I write processing October files.
4. Passport, birth certificate translated and stamped by a notary, if you will be sending your app as soon as you arrive, also bring your criminal record, also translated and stamped by a notary, bare in mind though that usually it expires in 3 months, so maybe it isn't worthy.
I might be forgetting something... I also would recommend bringing recommendation letters if you have, when the time comes for you to get a job.
If you have diplomas (academical or professional), translate them and have them stamped by notary as well, it will help when the time comes for you to get a job.
Good Luck :)

Hi Folks-g,

Good question, I try and go out a lot with the baby {mum and baby groups}. Before I was stuck indoors getting bored and reading all the online inland applications forums. If you are bored, you could find some sort of voluntary work. Your local library might have some information about local community activities that you could engage in. I also go online learn new healthy recipes and cook and bake for the family, whilst watching my weight. LoL, I have actually made a decision to make the most of my time whilst waiting because if the application gets approved, I might get a job and never have this free time.
