Congrats on AIP! Nice to see more February applicants getting it! :)

Guri, any luck on the GCMS notes? I called CIC the other day and asked if the reason I didn't get to view any of the notes on our file was because I hadn't included a permission form from my spouse and the agent said that it was in fact because there were no notes on my file because it was too early in the process. If they were following 11 month timeline then I wouldn't think that 8 1/2 months was too early in the process for CIC to have even touched our file. Which gives room for worries to grow. Blah.

Congrats on the landing and the AIP guys! :)

I emailed them today asking about the delay so, am hoping to get a reply by next week. But, if the agent is right and they haven't touched the file, it is ridiculous so that means they don't look at the file the entire time.

Exactly. Which is confusing to me because it looks like red flag files or files with precieved issues/differences are given interviews very soon in the process. Which would suggest that they'd have to at least scan the files... I am beyond even attempting to guess the process at this point. It seems to change as soon as you think you know what's going on. :/

Yeah, you are right. CIC and its mysterious ways of working!

If you ask for electronic notes, that's correct. They've created a paper file and a skeleton electronic file, but when you get electronic notes you don't get scanned document copies - you have to ask for physical file contents to get those back. Thus, anything that's been ordered and delivered physically is sitting in that file but not entered into the computer system yet.

The 11 months really is the queue delay - some background has been ordered up for your file, but nobody has really looked at it other than to verify you aren't missing anything obvious.

Hi guys, congratulations to everyone who received good news. Anyway, just wanna share this. I hope this is true for all of us.

I have a question about work permits. Are you suppose to submit a work permit application with your PR application? I found this confusing on the website. I already sent in my PR application, but I am wondering if I should do a work permit one as well.

Yes, I would apply and send it to Vegreville as soon as possible! Pay for the fees online and attach the receipt with the application! I'm almost certain that you will still be considered on implied status if you send the app before your current status runs out. Applying online doesn't give you implied status, it has to be sent to cpc-v.

I'm confused by implied status. I don't currently have a work permit, so not sure what you mean by current status

You do not have to send a work permit in with your application if you don't wish to. If you are currently on say, a visitor record, IF you send in your work permit application to be attached to your sponsorship application you won't have to renew your current visitor record as you would be on 'implied status' until a decision is made about your OWP that is now attached to your sponsorship application. HOWEVER, you do NOT have to maintain a status in Canada in order for your sponsorship paperwork to proceed. So, if your current status (whatever that may be) should expire before your sponsorship application is complete it will not hinder that application.

Most folks get a little 'twitchy' living in Canada without some form of legal 'status'. If you find you feel that way, you can either renew your visitor record/visa online and continue to keep your status current, or you can opt to indeed fill out the OWP and send it to Vegreville to be attached to your PR application.

This is not mandatory so don't feel as if you have to do this.

Hi everyone, we are a couple from Quebec city. We are , as everybody here, waiting for our approbation in principle. We sent our application in april and got our accused of reception april 9th. We are hopeful to get our response in the 11 months that CIC are saying. We try not to get disappointed with the no movement of the CIC website but to see that some people already have got response in the month of february got us some groove back. To have part in a forum like this is a very good thing to people that has been left in the dark by the immigration office with there almost no feedback to us CANADIAN citizens. Thanks to everyone here to help in this waiting process and have a great christmas holiday.
