The police certificate only has to be received by CIC within three months of being issued. As long as you're in Canada for the duration of the app process, I don't believe it expires or that you'll be asked to do another.

And so I'm back from camping.. Alive. I think it's going to be a harsh winter.. Those aphids are so aggressive! :)

Anything new?

I think that my husband got an AOR :D

I opened his email and found email from CIC it goes like this This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2013/08/21 on behalf of the following member(s): and there is his UCI number and app number.

Is the AOR when Stage 1 starts?
Unfortunately not. Stage 1 is AIP which is sponsor approval which currently takes between 7-10 months!

Hello Line.a
I think emmisocks question was if they start working on stage 1 the moment you received AOR.

So Stage 1 is the process to work to get AIP.
So does this mean the 10 months start counting when you received AOR. I clarify this cos I have the same doubt.... LOL

If you could help us it would be great.

I received AOR March 5th but my ecas says nothing. (I tried both my hubby's and mine) That's way I am so confused. I think (just my opinion) AOR means they received the appl but not necessarily they started working on it since they are working on Oct 15th . Please correct me if I am wrong
I've been having this question since I got AOR lol

This is exactly what I meant! I've been confused ever since they told me they received our application. Although it is nice to have confirmation that the email I got on the 30th of last month was indeed our AOR!

Yes, that was an AOR email and yes, your 'timer' starts from that moment for the wait for first stage approval. They might not be looking at your actual application at this point in time, but you can count 10 months from your AOR and that will be your 'expected' time to receive your AIP. Now, do try to keep in mind that 10 months is approximate right now and could go up or down at any point. They aren't moving fast at Vegreville. I've watched paint dry in less time! LOL

That's super great to know, thanks Alurra! I mostly just wanted a timeline to go by, so having this rough estimate is good. I've been prepared for the long wait for a while now. I've actually embraced my crafty side and have been knitting, spinning, and crocheting just to keep from going mad while my husband is at work. Just knowing that *maybe* by next June I might be able to start working myself is good enough for now. :]

I've heard about a few of those instances. Check sponsors email or try call the call centre and ask what has happened to the application. Some update it, some don't which is kind of odd in my opinion. Do you have an UCI number you can try look up on ecas and see what's going on maybe.

Hi thanks for you quick response. I do have a UCI number and tried to type it to ECAS but it didn't work. It does not recognise me as a person with an application in process.

However I do know that they responded to my application for an OWP by saying it will not be issued until I get my AIP. So maybe they know I have an application for Permanent Residence in process due to this response for my OWP?

Any additional thoughts or ideas on how I can confirm that my PR application is in process ??

Thanks so much for your help.
