So, I finally got an email for my AIP. I called CIC a couple times and harrassed them. They weren't going to send me anything, kept telling me not to worry everything was fine, to which I kept responding, you are right, except that it's not fine. Your office should have sent me a letter stating that my husband was approved and that I am now eligible to apply for permanent residency, and the ONLY reason this is not ok that you have not done it, is because without this simple letter I can not even apply for my OHIP now. Could we please rectify this. I got an email yesterday morning with my AIP attached ;)

So, yesterday, I printed my email, went to the border in Windsor and got myself an OWP directly with CBSA at the border. It still costs $150, BUT I got my OWP on the spot no waiting for weeks/months. I then went to service canada, got my temporary SIN, and then to the 2nd floor where I got OHIP applied for. Wasn't too bad at all. For those of you who still need to do OHIP:

1. Bring in your AIP letter. You WILL have to see a full service center not your small local one they can't help you.

2. Bring in a letter/statement anything that was mailed to you with your CURRENT address on it. I doesn't matter what it is, so long as your name/address is on it.

3. Bring some kind of other identification. If you don't have an Ontario license (as I do not) I used my Canadian credit card with my signature on the back. Yes, make sure your signature is on the back and they will accept it. I also brought my passport just in case, even though they can't/won't use it for identification, she used it to verify my birthday.

I was in and out quite quickly even though I had to take a number a wait. Have all the forms filled out and all the identifications ready and you are in and out before you know it! :D

Today, I have plastered and wallpapered my lil bitty new hometown with my resume! :D This girl is gonna get a job before xmas if it kills her! LOL

Wow!!! I did emedical as well, did mine 5th of October and
It's yet to show up on my Ecas even if when I call CIC says they've received it!!
Hmmm now I'm worried!
I don't think we should completely trust Ecas. I got my AIP and it's still not online, even though they sent me the e-mails. I'm assuming they take longer to update the page?

Congrats Allurra71!!!

It's kind of weird that they won't accept a passport though. It clearly states in their Coverage Document List that they accept "Passport (Canadian or foreign)". Good thing you were prepared! Haha Now I'll be prepared as well! Thank you so much!

I didn't realized that you can apply for OWP at the Canadian Border. That is a brillant move. This is an option for those who can enter US and turn around to Canada Border. I updated your status and removed your "unconfirmed aip" status on timesheet.

I remembered this information from last year when I was having troubles crossing into Canada, Screech. When finally hubby and I married and I got my visitor record, I kept those agents busy giving me any and ALL information that I would need to get myself well armed. I was looking for ways to work here in Canada or to cross into the US. I was making sure all my ducks were in a row. I remembered that the young lady there distinctly told me, that once I should receive AIP, I could come back and they would 'decide' if they'd like to issue me OWP. At the time, I was like, yeah, well, I can see I won't be going there for it because they'll have fun denying me, but once I understood more about what AIP actually WAS, I decided I was going there just to make sure I held them to their words! LOL Well, that and it really was a quicker solution than mailing it in and waiting for some more time.

Yes, the applicant really should cross into the US and back again before getting the OWP from CBSA, however, they can make an exception, if they decide to be nice. :D

Not all applicants can enter US anyway. Only American Applicants and those with US visas.

Ok great! Were you able to get permanent SIN number or do you have to wait for your actual PR card.

Hi,

I would like to share my status:

Category........: FAM

In last status at CIC they say: "A decision is made... The office will contact you concerning this decision."

Any idea how long it takes to hear from them and what exactly "decision made" means?

Thanks!

It mean you are almost done. One more step, land at your local CIC office and you become officially PR.

Hmmm...Makes me wonder if I [American] should defer my OWP application with my Sponsorship application and go to the border when we receive AIP.
Would it matter if I was out of status when submitting the Sponsorship application, hence the primary reason for even considering the Inland application??

Maybe presenting myself to the CSBA, with AIP in hand, would be MORE than ridiculous. :'(

Hello everyone.

Looking for answers, I found this forum and it is so amazing how helpful is been here. But, I can't fine and answer to my doubt.

I'm an inland applicant too, December 2012. My husband got the decision made last week and I was requested to do my medical; The next day I had the x ray they called me to asked me for another x ray because they said they wanted to make sure all is good, that scare me so much!!.
and the next day almost 9 pm I got a call from them again saying that CIC will contact me because I will be refer to and Institute for another X-ray and ultrasound. What is going on?!

So I been looking to answers on internet to see what will happen with my process, because we are almost done and then this?!

I found this Forum and see tons of information really helpful. I will really appreciate if someone can help me with my doubt.

Thank you in advance and congrats to everyone who is getting excellent news!!! And for the ones still waiting no worries is almost time for you too.

Hey Everyone, Hope all is doing well! I havent been on in quite some time. We got first stage approval back in early October and my fiance ( applicant) was asked to obtain a police history report from when we lived in Australia in order to proceed with second step. No instructions were given on how to give them a copy of this so when we eventually got it 2 weeks ago we faxed it to the office with Attention to Karen who had worked on our first stage.

Fiance called immigration today to see if it had been received and for an update on our account. the agent at the call center told him that it was received but that he needs to mail them the original copy. (this seems VERY strange since they usually always only want photocopies, and all our police checks we sent they had asked for photocopies so why must the original be sent for this?????)

SECOND thing the agent told him that they arent processing anymore applications until June!?!?!?!!?!!?
what is going on? Is this just another classic example of the CIC office not knowing anything? or is there a problem that is delaying applications?!!? I am not sure what to do...we are currently on hold with CIC again cause i told him to call back and see if a second agent says the same thing....
help....

From what I am reading your post, you sent them faxes of the police report? Did I read that right? Police reports must be originals no exceptions. If the call centre told you to send copies of the report, I think they meant original copies not photocopies or faxes of the report.

It is not very STRANGE to ask for original copies of the police report. It is very STRANGE for them to ask you for a fax of police report.
