Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I have been studying in Canada for 4 years now and my Mom has been a PR since 1979. Don't ask about the history...it's complicated. Anyway can she sponsor me even though I'm 21? All my other brothers & sisters are either Canadian Citizens or PRs. I am the youngest of 4 and my father died in 2005. My parents were still married at the time but not living together. What do you think my chances would be of being successful? Can I stay in Canada while my application is being reviewed???

Re: I'm 22 can my Mom sponsor me?

No - she can't. You're too old. Also, you're no longer attending school (based on your previous posts) and therefore don't qualify as a dependent child who has been in school on an on-going basis.

In http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/what-are-my-chances-t173343.0.html;msg2719176#msg2719176 you claimed to be only 21. Was it your birthday today? It makes one heck of a difference!!

No kidding. Huge difference between 21 and 22.

Troll alert :o

I don't believe OP is a troll - just someone who has run into issues with their PGWP and is looking at any other options available.

Someone who posts 2 threads on the same day with the same background, in 1 claiming to be 21 and in another 22 is a troll. And if even true, one has to wonder why if in Canada for 4 years without prior PR app., and the mother has been a PR since 1979?

One was a typo IMHO - I think the "21". We do get trolls here once in a while. However they always come up with stories that create a lot more controversy (e.g. committing marriage fraud to get into Canada). The point of trolling is to stir up drama. There isn't enough here to create any drama at all (again IMHO).

Reading between the lines of the OP's posts, I can see how this might be the case. As this might be a "sensitive" area, I have made no attempt to delve into the jungle.

Sorry, that was a typo, Im 21 will be 22 in December. I posted twice because I did not see my first post come through. What's the difference between 21 & 22 can you explain it to me? I am not a troll and don't even know what that is. Just someone in a bad situation, which I take responsibility for and trying to figure a way out without lining some lawyer's pockets. I accept that I eventually will have to talk to a lawyer, but being armed with as much info as possible can only be a good thing........thanks for all the feedback!

Re: I'm 22 can my Mom sponsor me?

21, you have a fighting chance of making it in time. 22, you're screwed. "Under 22" is the cutoff. And just to be clear, the age is locked in on the date that CIC receive the application, not when you fill it out. Tempus Fugit....

Age 22 is the cut off to be considered a dependent child under CIC rules. So if you meet all of the other conditions you can be sponsored by your mom if she is eligible to sponsor based on her status in Canada. Her application has to be submitted before you turn 22.

Re: I'm 22 can my Mom sponsor me?

Check the dependent child eligibility here:

Re: I'm 22 can my Mom sponsor me?

O.K it say she has to fill out and send in a form and once we are determined to be eligible they will send us an application package. Is my date of application when my Mom sends in the first form or when the completed application package is received?

Re: I'm 22 can my Mom sponsor me?

You need to send in a completed application package. If you just send in one form, they will simply return the entire package.
