Wow I just noticed you are under NOC 0711. Thats so cool. You will never face dearth of jobs in Canada. London office has gotten slower off late after the transfer of all Pakistani FSW cases from Islamabad office. New Delhi is way more efficient (at the moment). So patience is the virtue...but will be well worth it.pooja82 said:i wish i could give u + 1 everytime
anyways, my application is ...............
waiting for medicals. received second AOR in April
it's been 8 months now

hope to hear seomthing positive in new year
all d best

Hi App,App said:Hi Bsrk,
I am from India.
Me and my wife presently in USA.
I am legally eligible to stay in USA till April 2011.
I found I am eligible for Canada PR.
I am just starting the process.
What is the processing time if I apply from USA.
Is the processing time same for both USA and India (New Delhi).
If I am to leave USA in the process do I need PCC from USA.
If so any idea of obtaining USA PCC.
thank you, bsrk68, for your response. about the menial jobs: yea, desperate times call for desperate measures. if we are left with no alternative, that's the last resort and we will need to take whatever menial jobs available to us. thanks for the wishes and happy holidays to you too.bsrk68 said:Hi Kato,
Thanks for your insights and sorry to hear you couldn't make it here. It requires the "Who you know" and the perseverance criteria to achieve success in Canada. One shouldn't be afraid to get their hands dirty on menial jobs. And you are right when you say "they advertise positions just for marketing purposes or to solidify an internal employee's application". A lot of these vacancies are misleading as they are published to satisfy HRSDC or Service Canada for LMO approvals.
I am sorry, CFD is Greek to me..lol. I am from the Hospitality Field. But I am sure Canada is not all that bad....pray someday you'll make your way back to Toronto.
Good luck and happy holidays !!
hi bsrk68! just noticed that your field of work is in hospitality... i'm a nurse but will need registration first before working as one in canada. my husband worked as a cook in an international cruise ship. do you think he can get a job easier than me? we're planning to land by june 2011 and hope to have (either me or my hubby) a job to support our 2 kids, eldest is 5 and youngest is 2 years old.bsrk68 said:Infact Yes, I have no complaints. I landed a nice job within 15 days, but my field of work was Hospitality, which has demand in all parts of the world. So it won't be fair to compare my experience with others in different fields. Regarding my job hunting experience, well, I must say it was a mixed bag of positives and negatives. One thing I did find was that no matter what one says, Canadian Companies which have "White" bosses, are mostly tending towards racial profiling. When you land in Canada, you must not let yourself hurt with this stuff. Check your ego at the door....and move on with life.
You husband will land a job in the first week....and thats a guarantee. If you require any assistance, just send me a PM. I have friends here who own East Side Marios and other restaurants. There are no dearth of jobs for cooks. He will get better paying jobs if he takes the Red Seal Certification Exam after landing. Its an easy exam for cooks who have experience. Try and start him to prepare rightaway.peanuts said:hi bsrk68! just noticed that your field of work is in hospitality... i'm a nurse but will need registration first before working as one in canada. my husband worked as a cook in an international cruise ship. do you think he can get a job easier than me? we're planning to land by june 2011 and hope to have (either me or my hubby) a job to support our 2 kids, eldest is 5 and youngest is 2 years old.
any insight on this query would be highly appreciated. thanks... ;D

As mentioned by many in this forum, medical accreditions are long and tedious in Canada. Without those, neither you nor your wife can practice. The pass percentage of GP's is also quite low, compared to Canada trained Doctors. Hence you should be mentally prepared for a battle, and with determination, you can win. Once you have the required licensing, you will not have a problem finding jobs. You wife can even start her own clinic, which is quite a lucrative business here.aaycee said:Hey dear...
thanks for offering the helping hand to the Canada aspirants.
We have applied under new rules in august and got an AOR from CIO.
I am a general physician and my wife is a dentist in India. we both are working in a medical and dental college and hospital.
I just want to know about our job prospects in toronto or anywhere else. I know our professions are regulated ones So, I just want to know what can we do initially after landing.
Thanks

Bonjour Mademoiselle..amissa said:Hi Bsrk68,
Thanks for offering your help and assistance. May God bless you. If you don't mind my questions are:
1. After about 10ans , did you get the citizenship or your are still a PR?
2.What areas/cities do you suggest for landing (job wise) for a chemical engineer ? I understand that my 10+years experience will not be fully recognized. I am fluent in French/English.
3.Based on your experience in Canada ,if you are to give one advice, only ONE to new immigrant. What would be?
In advance thank you for your time.
