Hi Everyone

My parents visited me in Canada and just before their planned flight, my father passed away in Canada and hence I had applied visitor visa extension visitor my mother since she was not in a emotionally stable state to travel back. Have few questions related to this and your response will be very helpful during this time

1. How long does a visitor visa extension take , the website mentioned 140 days, is it that long ?

2. Since my mother is in a visitor visa which is valid for 10 years (multiple entry). Can she enter Canada for 6 months , go to India for a week and then again come back immediately or will it raise any concerns ?.

3. I will also be applying for a super visa for her, may I know if stating that she needs to stay with me for a longer time for emotional support is a good reason ? Or will it give an impression that she might stay in Canada permanently and lead to application rejection

(1) This is more or less the time you should expect.
(2) Definitely not recommended. If she leaves then she should stay outside of Canada for a while before attempting return for another long trip. Otherwise she risks a refusal at entry. If she wants to stay longer, apply for the extension from within Canada
(3) You still want to show she has ties to her home county. Not sure what is best to state as a reason. I would recommend you post this question to the Visitors section of the forum. Where you are posting now really is not the best place for questions on visitor visas.

10 year multiple entry TRV doesn’t mean you can visit for 10 years. It is really meant for frequent travellers who plan on entering and exiting Canada many times over the 10 year period. As specified your mother remains a visitor in Canada so leaving Canada for a week and attempting to return for another visit is not consistent with a visitor’s behaviour. Would suggest she return home reestablish herself and then apply for a supervisa. This is still does not allow her to move to Canada on a permanent basis so your family needs to be making longterm plans for your mother in her home country.
