Hi

I have called CIC and they are telling me that I will have to wait the 43 days after they receive my new 5406 form which I sent Oct 10 and then it will most likely be Jan before I get as. They gave a client number . My hubbie called today and I almost cried as it is so long and another Xmas alone this process is very stressful I am going to holguin for a week in Dec which helps a little but may be worse when I have to come back. I am wondering if it would help to call my mla at this stage. The heartbreaking part is that all these forms were already in the application to begin with. I have pictures of all of them. The email I recieved in august said my application was complete.

Hi

Does anyone know what the requirements of the Cuban Government for living with your husband in his house in Cuban while this process is taking place.

Hi Galano,

As far as I know as long as you are married you can go to the Immigration Office in the city your husband is in and change your visitor visa to a family visa. I believe it's good for 6 months. That's what I do when I go.

No, we have not heard ANYTHING from the VO. I've just noticed a lot of other people from the Havana VO being asked for new police certificates, and I was wondering why they would need a new one (it would give me a sense of whether they will ask us for a new one). If they were issued more than 3 months before the application was received, I would understand that request and feel better. I was hoping to get some answers from those that were asked, but no one has replied yet.

I hear ya on the "not patiently waiting"! I'm trying my best, but there are moments where I just need to try and do something, anything, to feel like I have "some" level on control in this situation. Trying to plan your future, when you don't know when it will happen is an incredibly stressful feeling...not to mention, gives this particular control nut, way to much time to worry about sh!t at times. *OK, Deep breath... it will all happen in due time :)*

We are now into November, so with every passing month, it is one more month closer to the big move, and us being together FULLTIME!

When my husband had his interview, he had to bring a new police certificate with him. His had already expired from when I sent in the sponsorship (since we waited so long for an interview). They want to check that he has still remained crime free before he leaves the country. It basically is just a money grab if someone's police certificate hasn't expired by the time of interview or when it arrives in Havana office.

Thank you for the reply MrsTrejo. Everything that I saw about police certificates on the immigration site did not refer to the expiry date (6 months from issue), but rather that the certificate as not older than 3 months when the application is received. It's pretty much impossible for the PC to NOT expire, when the process takes 9+ months. Now I understand why Cuba started charging for PC this year. Talk about a money maker!

Yup, no kidding! Everything is all about money and gifts - of course we all know that being married to our spouses. When my husband first got his PC it was in pesos, now I think it has to be in CUC? It's been awhile but I am sure soon enough we will find out again, and when he needs to get a medical again as well.

Been going through this "gift giving" for the last 4 years. Can't wait for the end!

Hi Everyone,

I sent in my application on July 24, 2014. They sent me an email August 20th saying they needed me to submit the updated form 1344 since a newer version came up in Aug and said my app was incomplete due to the invalid form. It didn't make sense because they received my app in July when the form was still valid.

I re-submitted the form September 16th. When I called in on Oct 14, they told me they received the form and just updated it that day (this was after me calling them almost every other day).

On October 21st, I received an email saying I was approved as a sponsor and my application has been sent to Havana.

On November 7th, I was asked to pay the RPRF.

I know a friend of mine who went through this and her hubby was here 7 weeks after she paid the RPRF. My timeline seems faster so I'm hoping he may even get the visa faster than her timeline.

Any ideas as to how close my hubby is to receiving the visa? :)

No idea. I feel like it is crawling along. I'm a June applicant with SA in August and I had prepaid the RPRF and I'm still waiting.

I'm not sure, but I do know that the RPRF needs to be paid before they look at your application now, as it is non-refundable at this point. (once the SA is approved). According to everything I read, it suggested paying it up front to avoid delays, so that is what I did... I have had zero requests for missing/additional documents, so as far as I can tell, our application is going smoothly, however it is still a very long wait.

Hello Shalz25!

I’m on this one with MRS. HUBBY & JUSTAGIRRL… The wait is moving slower than I ever imagined it would be…

I am too a June applicant and have not heard anything yet. I pre-paid as a friend suggested I do so upfront so as to avoid delays… so maybe your friend got lucky?? Luck is something we all need these days eh?

From what I have gathered the wait should be approx. 4 months from the date of the transferred file PROVIDING no additional applications or information is required. I’ve gone through all the posts from this past year and calculated their wait time and things start moving at around the 4 month mark… (I know I am a freak… but anything to give me hope)!

As usual… keep us posted… I would love nothing more than to hear the ball is rolling for us all… I feel like not ONE of us has heard ANYTHING it’s getting me sad!

Best of luck to us all!!!

Thanks all for your quick replies!

I really hope one of us hears something soon too! It would give us all a little spark of hope if one of us gets some good news!

I'm not a patient person and I HATE waiting, this process is killing me!

How long ago was it that your friend went though this process? I know that there was a time (applications submitted late 2013) that they were making it through very quickly. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be the case now, but hopefully that will change and we will all get approved VERY SOON! MrsChula (from this site) had said that when her husband went to get his visa, there were several of them there are the same time. Hopefully all of our husbands will be at the VO to get their COPR together shortly!
