Hi!

MrsHubby I am NOT going. My husband is on his way to Havana now and the interview is tomorrow morning. I decided not to go because I would rather take the time off work when he arrives so I can show him around Toronto.

Having said that, I wish I could be there because I will be a nervous wreck until tomorrow when it is over. I hope they issue the visa immediately because then I will book his plane ticket immediately.

Sending you positive vibes... good luck! Hang in there!!

Thank you!!

I slept nothing last night and now the time is finally here!! :D:D

Any last minute advice for him?!

My only advice was not to be dramatic but to be calm and practical, and of course honest.

Hey y'all!!!

He was in the waiting room for four hours. He called me at 12:30 PM and this is what he explained about the process:

A number of applicants were in the waiting room at 8:30 this morning just like him.

An officer came out and handed each of them a nylon package to put their documents in (passport + criminal record clearance in my husbands case).

They remained in the waiting room for hours and then the officer came out again and returned the applications to them, including the IMM forms and any photo evidence or correpsondence.

He then told them to return at 2:00 PM today to collect their passports.

We are assuming (and so are the other applicants he was speaking with) that this means he will get his visa at 2:00 PM.

I know I should probably wait but I already booked his plane ticket, and if God is Willing, he arrives Friday afternoon!!

So the long and the short of it is that there was no interview, and I will know this afternoon if he does in fact have the visa today.

Thanks for all your help everyone + I will keep you posted!

Hello,

I'm at the translation notarization stage. The Cuban consulate in Toronto said:

"Take the originals to a Notary Public and get CERTIFIED COPIES of the documents stating that the documents are true and valid copies of the originals issued by competent authorities in the Province. Same Documents have to be Officially Translated into Spanish. This should include a Statutory Declaration of the Translator signed by the Notary Public."

Once I have the documents Notarized, do take the documents to get translated into Spanish then Notarized again? That doesn't make any sense. Can I not translate the documents into Spanish and then Notarize everything?
Could someone also help me find one place I can do both the translation and notary in Toronto?

Thank you!

Which docs are you translating? Is this for immigration or marriage?

A ATIO translator named Victor did mine. He also notarized them for me. He does everything by email and mails you hard copies as well so you don't even have to go to him. He is in Oakville, and his fees were not dirt cheap but they were okay. Victors email is go@solospanish.com. I also use another ATIO translator in Etobicoke her name is Florinda Lages you can look her up on ATIO website, but you have to notarize it yourself.

And yah for marriage I notarized everything, Spanish and English, it's mandatory. But for CIC spousal sponsorship we certified the antecedentes and the marriage certificate in Havana, but nothing else. No Canadian notaries on anything. And also the VO in Havana told us we didn't even need to certify the marriage certificate or the criminal record clearance but whatever better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

If this is for marriage, take your authenticated documents(stamped by canadian gov. Let me know if you don't understand what I mean) to the cuban embassy, or send the by canada post. They take do everything at once, the way the cuban government needs it.
