yeah it really is something else......my girlfriend was going there last week and I asked my husband what he would like and you know what he said...bars of soap......they are in short supply there and are cost $3.80CUC a bar.....and he only makes $20CUC a month.....so it's all the little things we take for granted... :(

Do you feel safe in Cuba outside of the tourist areas? My grandmother in law desperately wants to go to Cuba, and we have promised to take her. But it worries me a bit, because everything is so different. And obviously she doesn't want to go to sit on a beach :)

Omg KJG so exciting for you guys!!! (and me too since Iam hot on your trail!!)

And yes, soap was the biggest request for my trip down.
I always stock up on it anyways when I see a good price here, and it goes into my Cuban stockpile. So I'm
Packed, 2 suitcase 23kg each. Praying that i sail through Aduana without any issues.
Definitely going to bring down the continuing proof to leave with hubby in case he gets call soon.
So, here's hoping his interview is November 1st!!!!!

So happy for you both!

TSB....Cuba is very very safe. Havana of course is a big city and should be treated as one still safe there but definitely the all other cities/towns are great. I walk all over by myself and no problem......I see my husband's friends downtown when I am walking and they are like are you okay....everything all right...and it's like ummm...yeah...Yoani is working so I am just out walking around....so very funny!!!

Congratulations KJG on interview. You must be so excited. I got approved in Toronto on July 16; so hopefully i won't be long behind you. I've never heard of gmsc notes; what are they and where do I get?

hey lubcuba....thanks I am very excited.......it is the notes that are made on your file by the VO looking after your file.....if there are any flags....and concerns...that is usually noted in the notes........so I will try and order today but they take 30 days to get approx. and I am leaving either the 1st or 2nd of Oct......so not much give there.......but hard to order earlier cause if your file hasn't even been looked at they won't be of help....so almost a catch 22!!!
