In the most recent update on ircc website and Canada.ca it says
Note: A person is only allowed to have one H&C application under consideration at any time.

The first link updated in August the second link is updated in June this year does it mean can NoT send more than one application? I mean if you get refused you aren’t allowed to submit second application?
No. It means you can only have one application under consideration at a time. If you are refused, then you can send another application. However you cannot send two applications at one time. Also, of you are refused and appeal, then you cannot send another new application while the appeal is in progress for the previous application.

Hello guys, I applied on humanitarian grounds in April 2023 for my parents. This was the second application after the first refusal. In the application, I declared that my father has renal failure and is on dialysis. I asked for the medical exemption as well. Yesterday, I received medical request for both my parents. No AIP yet. Is this a positive sign?

IMO it means your application is moving forward but not sure it is either positive or negative. Since you've asked for a medical exemption, it makes sense they have requested it now and before AIP. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Looks like a positive sign that your application is atleast moving, good luck!!

I have a question for you though, whats the hardship reason you showed on your application?how long it took them to refuse your first application?why didnt you try submitting for reconsideration?asking because I have applied for my mother under h and c grounds back in June 2023,still no reply, not sure what they are doing with the application :(

I would really appreciate your response..

thanks

My parents will be left on their own with no income/pension in their home-country. My dad has renal failure and other medical issues. He is unbale to care for himself and my mother does not understand the medical technicalities. She, on her own, cannot manage this all if left in their country.

Also, my dad is on home dialysis here in Canada from last 2 years and is doing very well with almost no active involvement required from any of healthcare staff. So, that is a major establishment of sustaining life. Home country does not offer home dialysis and switching the type of dialysis comes with surgery and risk. I own a home here and have a stable life. We volunteer at food bank and have been helping community from years now.

it took 18 months for the first application to be refused.

Be patient, you might hear from them in few months.

Edit: There was no specific reason as to why I did not ask for reconsideration. I could ask. I just did another application without thinking much.

Good afternoon.

Please I have a couple of questions

My mother is 76 years old. She has been somewhat flag polling since 2020 (spending 1 month either in the US or UK and returning to Canada for 5-6 months) as we have been waiting for the parents and grandparents’ route to open but to no avail. Her TVR expires at the end of August 2024

I applied for H&C in May 2024 on the grounds of establishment in Canada (3 out of her 4 children are Canadian citizens and the 4th is a British citizen) she has no ties, assets, family etc in our home country Nigeria. Also, I included best interest of children/grandchildren (providing childcare to 6 grandchildren here in Canada and teaching them Nigerian languages and culture)

Timeline

Application – 26th May 2024

AOR – pending

Biometrics Request – 17th June 2024 (with an application number starting with H000) submitted 18th June

I phoned the call center, today and the agent told me they had received the application and they are currently checking for eligibility.

Questions
  • I have not received the AOR letter, how long does that usually take after the application?
  • Do you think I should apply for the visitor record now so she does not lose status when her current TVR expires by August 31st 2024?
  • I noticed in her GCKey account her biometric was updated with the new expiry in June 2034. Am I able to link her H&C application to her GCKey account?
Thanks for your advice and help.
Just to update us on my mums situation.

I applied for a visitor record to on the 13th of August so that she remains in status as we wait for the H&C application. In the visitor record application, I indicated that she has a H&C application pending and I also stated categorically that she is unable to leave the country until after the H&C application is processed and approved.

I got feedback today that the Visitor Record was approved with the expire date October 2025.

Hopefully we would get the AOR & AIP before then.
