I dont want to bring negativity around here but trust me, Canada is overrated, just because of its southern Big Brother...I am a canadian graduate, spent 4 years studying and when my turn came to get immigration, they sucked up the time on CEC and then shut down FSW..

The Immigration Department sucks sooooo much. On one hand Canadians claim that the uneployment is so high and on the another hand it takes 20 minutes to reach a CIC Officer on the phone, to just tell that he is unable to provide status on my application..

1 Guy here lost his chance of getting PR this year because they lost his IELTS?!? Great..Couldnt they contact him and say hey mister, we have received your file and couldnt find the IELTS scorecard. Give the dude some time to explain man..

All people applying are humans and even the assessors are humans there is bound to be error somewhere.

So last year I got fed up with CIC crap and I applied for Australian PR..Do you know how long it took me? Less than 4 months!! Police Clearance, Medicals, Employment Verification, Background Checks, IELTS!! it all took 4 months..And trust me they have a lot more applicants than Canada..

Anyway, I havent left for Australia yet if I dont hear from CIC soon I am packing my bags towards Australia where I can stay on the beach all year around!

Sad, They took me in without me investing anything except application fees and here in Canada they wouldnt let me get my PR despite paying 4 years international fees for Uni
Good luck to you Raj. Btw, Canada is much more diverse and pluralistic than Australia. However, the Australia economy needs more people now vs. Canada and hence it takes a short time to get PR. All in all, the recession is a bit*h!! Emerging markets offer most of the growth and here we are trying to go to the west where there is no growth!

An Englishman, a Frenchman, a Spaniard and a German are walking down the street together. A juggler is performing on the street but there are so many people that the four men can’t see the juggler. So the juggler goes on top of a platform and asks: “Can you see me now?” The four men answer: “Yes.” “Oui.” “Si.” “Ja.”

Gott It! :D

Wish you good luck as well.

I just think there is a lot of scope for improvement on CICs part..

Also Forgive me if I portrayed a little biased side of me..I think I can get used to beaches, soccer, Australian open and can definitely live without the snow..I'll miss Tim Hortons Iced Cappuchino though .. Love Canada but maybe not my turn yet

Congratulation jigzyy and FreeBird! :) I told you its going to be good news because you deserve it for all the good work you have put in for the benefit of so many applicants here! I hope and pray you sail all the way.

Now islandbabe and jigzyy please pray for me too please. :)

Congrats jigzy! That's the first major step done in my opinion. Though a long way to go still.

Congrats to freebird as well.

As an aside, I can't believe that I forgot that I might have a UCI number as well. I just checked my 1st ever passport and I have the maple leaf in it :p I crossed over from the freedom bridge, if that's what its called, from Buffalo into Toronto on 4th July 1993. So I've spent the total of half a day of my life in Canada. There are two numbers on my visa that might be the UCI. The visa number that starts with V and has 9 numbers or the visa sticker number in red that starts with G and has 9 numbers too.

Can't believe that I applied 2 months ago and have been on this forum prior to that and never realized this. An issue though is that my year of birth was recorded incorrectly on my first passport and was corrected some years later.

Anyway, congrats to others too for receiving their PER today. Lets see if any payments get charged.

Mate - UCI is 8 numerical characters. It is usually not on the visa vignette. It may be on a letter from the local VO. Anyway, have you checked your CC for any charges?

Oh! So 1993 wasn't UCI ready :) the numbers do start with 0 so maybe I needed to ignore that. But you say that its not on the visa so nothing doing there.

No credit card charge yet.

Hey, congrats to all of you fresh PERs! :)

It's a shame there was no CIC updates today though... I have to start doing less forum checks. Things seems to be going well with whole this process so now just have to wait and see how it goes.

Of course we will, you may get your good news this week too!!
