I thought actually that this thread was about the FSW stream. No, all I see is a specific country bashing? India 2.0?
I'm not Indian myself but why should we bash/blame IRCC or the people who moves from their country simply because they ask for a better life? let's not forget that even the first people who sat foot here are also immigrant. No one should ever take a patronizing position.
To be honest, this thread gave me the same feeling last year. I was shocked, but I came around.

I am now looking beyond words here now. Most people who write those things aren't necessarily bad, just in-experienced in life. The country is amazing and so are the people here, and this thread doesn't represent it at all. There's a weird divide of "us vs them" with immigrants, but I'm sure if we give them a few years, they'll come around.

Don't let offensive posts stop you from participating here.

That's ok I'm not judging people. but what I try to say is that the reason number one why we come to this forum is to gather much needed info regarding our applications. What to do, what not to do. You know what I mean. But the discussion now focuses on something completely irrelevant.
And yes, free speech to all, but the topic is about FSW stream and PR. not the housing crisis, not the the immigrant integration etc...

what are you all fighting about? it's not a good idea to generalize about nationalities.

Our main concern should be why there are no draws. what is ircc up to.

Time to buy an investment property in Montreal.
I've always find this French path weird. IRCC don't give restrictions on where could these PR can establish residence. What's stopping them from living in Vancouver or Toronto or Calgary, and if they're under FST/FSW, they're not even allowed to establish residence in Quebec, so once they start living in other parts of the country they'll just end up speaking English, and likely stop using French at all, especially true if French is intentionally acquired solely for the purpose of satisfying the PR requirement, and not for day-to-day conversations.

I can't imagine how IRCC will meet their goal of increasing the French-speaking population, if these people ends up in English-dominant provinces and get assimilated anyway. And for the people who actually speak French as the first language, well they'll probably just end up applying for Quebec CSQ and get a PNP, before going through FSW, which means they probably won't even need the special French selection.

Okay, so as a PR you are not eligible to hold a temporary status or temporary visa. eTA is a travel authority issued to those who want to enter Canada temporarily. So, you can not use it because are entering Canada with an intent to stay there permanently based on your permanent status. PR Card fills this gap as far as travelling part goes. It allows commercial travel operators to onboard you on a journey to Canada. Otherwise they are legally not allowed to onboard you -- unless you lie to them that is, which will land you in hot soup. Before ETA came into being, one could travel to Canada using their passport only and was fine.

You see entering, Canada does not require a PR Card, but travelling to Canada does --atleast if you are doing it via a commercial travel company.

So that's the theory. In practice, you can enter Canada by PRCard or PRTD if you are travelling by sea or air or land using a commercial travelling service like an airlines. If you are travelling via a land border in your own private vehicle, you do not need a PR card and only your CoPR and passport will suffice.

I do not know what will happen if you are travelling on your own on a private jet or ship. Most likely it will fail.

So. Either:

1. Get a PRTD and enter Canada via a port of entry.
2. Travel to Canada via land border (via USA at Niagara fall or Peace Arch etc) and enter using your CoPR and passport.

Or you can ask your friend to bring your PR card to you at Peace Arch park eg.

Sending your PR card outside Canada via post can be risky.
Thanks for your answer !

Is it risky to send it via post because it could get lost ? Or they could notice it (they dont like it i heard) ?

Typically, if it is found by canadian border protection, it will be destroyed. Odds of being found? I don't know.

The reason are... well political.

Typically they ask you where do you want to go after coming to Canada. And if you say "Quebec", they will reject you and ask you to apply via quebec's immigration system. But once you land, there is NO law that stops you from actually living in Quebec.

If you come via CSQ or whatever it is called, you have obligation to live in Quebec. Very similar to PNP obligations.

But if you come via EE only, you can live anywhere.

The reason behind all this confusing behaviour is nothing but politics. The weird kind of marriage between anglo-sphere Canada and Quebec. Both know they are better off together but atleast one partner threaten other with divorce for benefits. Quebec always make noise about how french language is disappearing and what not, so all these measures are nothing but placating moves by Canadian government.

A person coming with French as a third language is not going to give priority to living in Quebec unless there is a major benefit. The french skills are just the fig leave to cover for the actual immigration. Takers for CSQ are not going to be as numerous because it limits one opportunities.

My guess is it might be that Abraham guy who in this thread is always bashing Indians who bad they are, how bad the country is and fights often with @GandiBaat
I’ll respond to this since I’ve been mentioned and my statements have been taken out of context. I don’t hate Indians nor am I ashamed of being an Indian. I also don’t have any beef with the nationalist Gandibat. I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy and the delusion of grandeur we have as a country. We don’t have the economic or military might of either China or the United States, so we’re neither an economic superpower, nor a military superpower. What we do have is a large market and military because of our large population. Since we really don't have anything significant to be proud of apart from our rich history and culture, we’re a deeply insecure bunch. It’s because of this deep insecurity, you see a lot of Indians clinging onto extreme nationalism as a coping mechanism. Politicians like Modi have latched onto this insecurity and doubled down on showcasing nationalism in any way they can. Recent examples of this being the assassination of a Khalistani in Canada and the failed assassination attempt in the US. Now, you may ask why they would do this when they’re trying to establish close relationships with the west? It’s because Indian politicians are extreme failures when it comes to domestic issues. They really don’t have anything of substance to showcase as progress. It’s much easier to focus on external issues happening in another country rather than fixing third rate infrastructure, crap productivity, income inequality, poverty, food insecurity, pollution, rampant corruption etc. However, in recent times, if you or any Indian were to point out that there are a lot of domestic issues that need to be fixed in India, you would be shot down immediately with whataboutism and be labeled “anti-Indian” or “self hating Indian” by nationalists who get extremely defensive. The Indians who are tired of dealing with this, move abroad and the ones who stay, have given up and accepted their fate. The perfect example of this insecurity being a very high profile gang rape which took place in India, in 2012. A 23 year old woman was gang raped by 6 men and there were certain sections of the Indian population who had the audacity to blame the victim for being raped. I can’t imagine how a country is ever expected to solve any of its problems if certain sections of its population are demonized or insulted for having any sort of self introspection? Imagine if the Americans who fought for the Union during the American Civil war cowered and accepted their country’s actions to be the norm without any pushback, you would still have black people living in America as slaves. I”ll leave it at that. Peace!

Most of us here simply asked you to stop calling India a shithole. This forum, nor the immigrants here will be benefited by you calling India a shithole. Look at your entire message, it is the same narrative. Turn that hate into something helpful and this forum will benefit from it. Generalizations are dumb, and I don't know how you time and again fail to understand it.

It isn't like rapes don't happen in Canada or that the victims aren't blamed. We don't go out generalizing that Canadians are all bad because of it or correlate it with country's growth/current standing - we know there are assholes everywhere and that one has to put things into context while making such dumb statements.

Sikkim is not the same as Gujarat, Delhi is not the same as Mumbai, etc - how can you package entire India in one simple summary? I'm not out here saying that rapes don't happen in India, but is that the only thing that happen in India? Tons and tons of Indians out there who go and do a honest days work and you crap on all of them without remorse.

Your generalizations and your immaturity are extremely irritating.

What do you even get out of saying this bullshit when we are clearly saying that it hurts other fellow Indians? They are not saying you are crap, I'm not saying you are crap - but you keep targeting our identities for no reason and without making any sense at all.

Indians or Int'l students don't do anything to you. Just live your life and move on. If you no longer identify with your Indian origin, forget we exist. We don't want someone to crap on us simply because we exist. Maybe, we don't fit your standards, but the hate you throw on our identity is simply uncalled for.

Yeah, but the problem is that they're going to screw you over when try to apply for citizenship especially if you said Toronto in the interview, but ended up in Quebec the next day. It's like tipping, it is not legally binding, but it's taboo if you didn't especially if you eat with a huge group in a restaurant.

If you come via CSQ or whatever it is called, you have obligation to live in Quebec. Very similar to PNP obligations.

Yeah, but it's weird in a way that if you get in via French-route and you're FSW/FST, you're not even technically allowed to reside in Quebec. I mean what's Quebec's end game?

Quebec: We want more French-speaking immigrants.
IRCC: We're now giving priority to French-speaking immigrants.
Quebec: Ok, but we're not allowing them to reside in the only French-speaking part of the country, and the only place where they can probably practice French in the first place.
