On another note. I just went into the USA and came back in with no problems. I let them know I was in Canada as an extended visitor going through the PR process. They asked me when I filed I told them and they said welcome home. They also asked me if I was aware of the date of my extended visitors status was to expire I said yes, it is not until next spring, and they let me go. Remembering I am an Inland Applicant and I have been told here on the forum that I could have a huge issue if I left at all I was a little nervous and had with me copies of our entire application and the receipt that they got it but I never needed any of it. :)
great story! thanks for sharing. which border entry was it? land or air?

A question. Our friend yesterday asked me if his new bride would be able to get a Visitor Visa to come spend some time with him. I told him I did not know but I thought it might be hard since she is now married to a Canadian they might feel she would not go back to Cuba if they gave her a Visitor Visa. Any suggestions for him.
Pretty much zero chance of her being granted a TRV. Given the nature of their relationship and her country of origin, she is a huge overstay risk.

How old is her daughter? If her daughter stays in Cuba, I think that would be a pretty good reason to go back. I don't know much about visitor visas though, this is just what came to mind.

I took a ferry, we are on Vancouver Island BC.

Thanks for the info about our friend's wife's probability of getting to visit. I thought as much and told him that. He said oh well if not that is ok. I asked when the next time he will go there is, he told me not for a long time it is very costly when he goes there since he always stays in a high class resort. I asked wouldn't he now just stay in her community, wanting to ask him if he wouldn't just stay at the house she shares with family but knowing he would say no, he said he guesses he could stay at a bed and breakfast but then he would still have to go out to eat other meals. I don't understand this since my husband and I even before marrying stayed at each others places and one or the other cooked for us both. I know it is Cuba but he could buy food for them to cook I think.

Her daughter is 5-6 but has been raised more by the grandmother than the mother. The mother, wife, has been a doctor and went through the training after having her child and even spent a year in Venezuela as a doctor I think after her daughter was born. She is no longer practicing and in fact resigned about 6 months ago because they do not let Doctors immigrate out of Cuba. She was a general practice doctor working on becoming a Pediatrician when she resigned. I do not know how close she is to her daughter I do hear that the grandmother is very protective of the granddaughter.

That is a beautiful ferry crossing isn't it.
