The only reasons we applied for her PR are because I have a daughter here from a previous relationship and she understands this and wants to be part of her life, and because I have a steady income here.

If we were to live in her country, I would have to frequently come back to Canada to spend time with my daughter.

oh, well yeah, of course CBSA and CIC are going to tell you that officially, they certainly aren't going to tell you the workaround. if you're not planning to travel until september, relax... you can still very well receive your pr card by then and all of this would not even matter. worst case scenario, if you don't get it before you leave, you have someone in canada watch out for it and hope it comes before you get back OR if you still don't get it (which i highly doubt), you can apply for a PRTD along with the ETA I believe to travel back to canada. there are other options you can consider and it's not worth stressing about right NOW. enjoy your new PR status for a bit! when you stop stressing and thinking about it, it'll show up much quicker.

Does anyone know how long does it take to show up in ECAS? Or do they send you an email confirming they received the documents?

generally you will not receive any notification they received your documents nor will it be noted on ECAS. it may appear in the new MYCIC tool, so you can sign up for that and see if it gets updated. your GMSC notes will tell you they received it.

Thank you for your prompt response, I already have a mycic account, I guess I'll wait a couple of days to see if it shows up there. We're planning to ask for other GCMS by the end of next month, Bogota VO is pretty slow so I hope that by that time they looked at our case again.

Make sure you put the Applicant's details. Encode UCI and App no., only if you have received an SA and AOR2 already. (UCI # of applicant).
Please note: for people sponsoring just their spouse/partner you need to encode "2" because it includes the sponsor as well.

So I was recently asked for documents one of those being the 4 pictures they usually ask for and today I was asked again for 4 pictures. Same specifications as last time.
When I took the pictures the first time I made sure the specifications were the ones from the form they said http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf
