No you don't. It is only an issue if you do have to declare
Thanks keesio. I am going to be good and only bring what I am allowed so I don't have to declare. :)

Hi guys

Haven't lived in Canada for over 23 years now. I remember back in the 80's at the borders there were Immigration and Customs departments. From what I understand now they are unified to one called CBSA. Is that true?
At those years the two services did not even carry guns. Now i see that they look like a tactical force of police!

Tom

Yes, times have changed for sure. It's a sad world we live in when you have to go through a border that looks like a war zone to get from 2 countries that are friendly towards each other. :(

Hi Buffy I hope your moving is coming up fine!

it was so nice and easy then! Just show your licence and "Have a nice day..Welcome to Canada or Welcome to the US."
I do support the extra measures of security but sometimes I think they are overdoing it! I watched this TV series about the CBSA and although I hold much respect and admiration to those young very professional officers, what I do not agree though is that the procedure has to be a little less discriminating and less frightening for the average traveler.
This refers to our last conversation about too much information and policing in the world and how eventually we will become a sci-fi movie come alive!
This is my position on the matter!

This is just a reminder for those whose visa office is/will be CPP-Ottawa, you are welcome to join the CPP-Ottawa spreadsheet (the link is in my signature) by sending me (IvanP) or amikety a personal message with your application dates. Or feel free to just refer to the spreadsheet to get an idea how long it might take for your application to be processed by CPP-Ottawa.

Hey everyone,

I read there was a strike at the VO in Mexico so I called our local MP. Well, they called back today and said there is no strke (hmmm interesting).

On that note, they wanted to check our application so I gave them my UCI number. I got a call back today saying that the VO received our package from CIC on May 3 :) I guess it's official... We have our 2nd stage AOR!!!

Like I've read from previous blogs, you won't always hear about 2nd stage right away, but there's relief now that our package made it to Mexico.

Good luck to everyone!

It's always wonderful to get any kind of positive affirmation in this frustrating waiting process to keep us going, isn't it?
Good luck to all of us!

Hi there PcDm7

Yoy are lucky in a way to know that your MP informed you that your 2nd stage is now official.
Wish I was in Canada I would've asked my area MP too.

Congrats

Well I made it over the border with a trunk full of stuff and my cat up front. :D I was so nervous but I happened to catch them on a changing of guards and the BP must have been in a hurry to leave/go on break because he didn't ask me but one question (where am I going) and sent me on my way!! Now to get back in a month with the rest of my "essentials" and I will be good to go for 6 months or better until we get our PR. I feel a lot better!!!!

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I sure hope we get more good news soon!!
