Hi everyone,

I just received my PPR but the problem that I have is that I've already purchased tickets to Cuba on Nov 28th and I'll be back on Dec 15th and they are asking for the passport to be received within 30 days (i.e. Dec 11th). So I either have to cancel my trip or just send the passport tomorrow, hoping that they'll process it fast enough so that I can get it before my flight.

I was wondering if anybody has experienced something like this and if anybody has asked for a delay (although it says in the email that the issuance of visa cannot be delayed!!!)

any comment would be greatly appreciated...

Only way CIC will postpone date is due to medical emergencies, and unforeseen emergencies ( IE lost passport ). You will have to email CIC to inform that. It will take 1 week+ for them to reply you, and even then, there are no guarentee that they will grant you the extension. I am afraid you will have to send it early and hope it comes back to you before your trip , or come back earlier from your trip , or cancel the trip altogether.

I would have refrained myself doing above as I have seen one of the person requesting faster stamping due to medical emergency .
Result was CIC returned passports without stamping .

My take they will take their time as its COPR . I am not scaring you but sharing what I have seen and noticed.

Did they extend the timeframe so the individual could send in the passports again?

lol,, too late to be panicked... The package has already been picked up by canada post. Nothing I can do now.. ;)

Dont worry not panicked, at best I get the passport stamped, at the worst i get the passports back and CIC will extend the time frame(hopefully)

Does anyone get reply from CIC about changing the location of visa printing?

I sent an email this morning to Ottawa asking them about this and they extended the deadline, so my take is that in your case if they think that they cannot process it on time they'll return your passport (without the visa) and just extend your deadline.

The CIC website shows the processing times as 16 calendar days for a new PR card. Here "New Immigrants" means, everyone who landed (or) just the FSW or someone else? Since CEC class applicants generally are residents of Canada. Forgive me if this sounds a stupid question. But 16 days for PR card, really? I can not believe this and I am going to finish 16 calendar days tomorrow :)
