Hi, i am among the december applicant...my application got to mississauga on december 22/11, and i am sponsoring my husband-visa office accra, ghana.....my question is what is the difference between receipt of acknowledgement and sponsor approval? do you get both by mail or email? thank you as you reply....
Receipt of acknowledgement just means that they have recieved your application and will start to work on it. They will do the background check and when the officer at cic is satisfied with the application, he will send you an approval letter or an email and then they will forward it to their office in your country. This is step 1 where they asses the person who is sponsering his/her spouse. Step 2 involves assesment of the appplicant.

I meant that you should not get frustrated waiting for the receipt. It takes time, generally two months. I got my acknowledgement email yesterday after 2 months. I am still waiting for approval.
Good to know you got your acknowledgment email. I am just waiting for mine. Its sad that the waiting time for Step 1 is 68 business days....Thats way too long considering that Step 2 takes 6 months...

I am contemplating on applying TRV for my wife, but seems there are miniscule chances of getting it through to success...

I would suggest that you should go for it. No harm in applying. Make sure that you meet all the requirments of the TRV.

The 68 days are normal days, not business days! :)

Hi Nessa,

Thanks for that. I just realized I was under wrong perception mixing it with PR Processing time line days.

I could get everything except the way to prove the VO that she intends to go back once the visiting term is up. This is a tough thing to crack esp when the VO is aware that a Spousal Perm Residency appln is in progress and he/she is pre-occupied not to entertain the TRV for these cases. Moreover i am afraid this would impact her appln. :(

I have a que...my wife and I are residing and Ontario and we're going to do the Inland app. Do I need to print out the Medical Report Section A form and go get a medical or should I send in my application and then go for the medical? a bit confused...please advise.
Good luck to you all!!

It wouldn't effect your current application but yes chances are really slim

Hi guys!

I received this email today:

This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2011/12/13.

What is this exactly? it's been 3 weeks that I sent my application, is it good news already that they are working on my application? or is it just normal to receive that kind of mail after 3 weeks?

thanks in advance!

I think lots of people in the november thread got that email already! It´s just a confirmation that they received the application. Later they send you an email saying that you have been approved as a sponsor.

From what I understand only some people get that email and it seems completely random who does and who dosen´t.

But congrats on getting one!! :D

Thanks Nessa for the info! 8)

Well, I guess i'm one of the lucky one who got that email, even if it's not much, at least it feels good to receive news from the CIC regarding our application, hehehe ;D

Hello all,

I'm up late and just reading some posts on the forum. Question for those who sent your application to CIC-Mississauga and requested a signature, what address did you send to? I read on the forum that there are 2 addresses...I had no idea!
