USCIS has been doing outdoor citizenship events since May 2020. They even did drive in citizenship ceremonies. Even the Aussie agency which is supposedly conservative to immigrants then us has been doing 45000+ applications per month. We’re all United in this predicament but its CIC’s doing that we’re in here waiting desperately.

(Code 699 is basically a VACANCY code, i.e. full rate wages paid with honest workers' taxes - most people here - ... Code 699 is a provision which allowed them to STAY AT HOME WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING, WHILE BEING PAID ... This is not telework, but a vacancy code, ie no production of work, = zero).

And don't anyone come and tell me I'm exaggerating ... Please, a little intellectual honesty is the truth, and you know it ...

Of course, the union of these "noble" people for whom you want us to have empathy, has not stopped fighting to demand the maintenance of code 699, without conditions !! ... Without any shame. They filed legal grievances, and even took legal action to preserve the "right" not to work with taxpayer money. Shame on them !!

It's discouraging to see that everyone else (including people outside of the country) are more of a priority than those of us who have been law-abiding, tax-contributing residents for more than 3 years

Based on his press conference, I believe that this new refugee policy is actually directed at people who are already in Canada, claimed refugee status, and have now been recognized as protected persons and received formal invitations to apply for PR. So I don't think these people are "outside of the country" as you suggested.

I'm a glass-half-full type of guy in difficult times like these, so I'm going to assume that this commitment to grant PR to 45,000 refugees is somehow reflective of an expanded processing capacity that we may not know about, but still benefit all of us in the very near future.

Students alone bring probably $9-10B a year. Like I said, govt focus is on - build human capital and grow economy. Sadly, citizenship applicants have fulfilled both of these already so no one cares anymore. Lol

They are not concerned with second tier citizens. They only need our generations who will be first gen Canadians and call themselves as Canadians not American Canadians etc etc

** While writing my last message, and looking again on the site of the federal public service union, I noticed that there is something new concerning their '' legal struggle '' to '' preserve their rights '' to use the vacancy code 699 (i.e. salary without work, with salary at full rates).

Indeed, it seems that the public hearings before the justice will begin ... It will be a disaster if these abusers of public money wins their legal case ... A disaster ... Surely that even the little telework that they will be stopped ... To be continued.

Looks like i found a best way to retire early with full salary while being on leave(untold retirement with full pay without working but on the job). Perfect.
