So about a month ago I had sent in additional documents from our Rukhsati and Valima, as when we had filed our application it was nikkah only. The call centre confirmed that our file was in Ottawa and had not been transferred out to Islamabad......I had emailed ottawa-pilot to confirm if in fact the additional documents had reached.....in response I get a letter stating that our file is being processed by the visa office in Islamabad....ottawa has part of our 'physical' file, and the rest will be processed by an officer in Islamabad.

I understand that the more we think about this and analyze it....the crazier one gets....but still, why could everything not happen from one spot. Oh to add icing to the cake, I called the call centre today and got a not so cheery lady who said well we can't check anything and cannot confirm where the file is.

Why must spouses go through such a complicated process to be with the one they love? Nobody plans to fall in love abroad.....like really?! UGH!

Just to prove the stories i was told about my file from different call center agents over the span of a year.

1st agent: "file is transfered to islamabad."

2nd agent: "your file is in process"

3rd agent: "we are doing background checks in your file" (sure buddy)

4th agent: "your file is still in mississagua" (really??? utter garbage)

5th agent: "your file is in pakistan, in queue, picture it in a room where this alot of files blah blah and they will work on it asap." (thanks for making me imagine my file)

6th agent: "file is in ottawa."

7th agent: "I really can't tell you we dont have the ability to get detailed info" (thanks for making me wait 20min for this answer)

8th agent: "pakistan has a 26month timeline (back then), you will have to wait patiently" (Oh i didn't know that)

There you go my history with call center agents. Thus, i stopped calling. (Call every month to hear a different story).

LOL !!

Im sorry, i didn't mean to make you sad. Its just i learned the hard way. I had high hopes, regarding the immgiration. Month after month i get disappointed, you know. Paid over 1000 dollors for quebec and canada. Not knowing anything about our files for a year. I told my wife it will only take maximum a year (what was i thinking lol) and we will be together. But its not reality and it just makes life hard. Thats why, you will see forum members tell you not to think too much about it. You will just get angry, confused and depressed. One thing is for sure, you will be together one day In sha Allah.

Insha'Allah we all get to be with our better halves soooon!! Hey can you edit your profile to show your timeline!! That is, if you don't mind!

my husband is sponsoring me. He left his last job in Oct 2011 and since then is unemployed. He was in pakistan from nov 2011 and returned to canada in jul 2012. our families met later and he came back for marriage in dec 2012. He returned after marriage. Current status unemployed. He is looking for a job. Should we file the application after he gets a job or go ahead with it?

Sincere advice sought

Dear I suggest that your husband find a part or full time job, because in form writing unemployed will not help, it is my personal view, maybe other members can guide you further,

yes i think its true

I would suggest going ahead with the application, as I was unemployed for more than a year and I am still unemployed. i got the approval as a Sponsor. there is no income requirement for sponsoring a spouse. Although I was on Employment Insurance and attached my previous Tax notice of assessment. Also I attached a letter from my Father saying that he will support us when my spouse is here.

I don't think they can reject him as sponsor based on the status of employment. The application processing time is already long enough I would not waste a moment and complete your paperwork and send the application ASAP.
