Its funny, how people to seem to believe what the call center agents tells you. (Most of the time they state bullcrap to get you off the phone).

Trust me, every call center agent will tell you a differenet story.

Secondly, I emailed cpp-ottawa for an update in feb. (never got a response from them)

Emailed them again in march (got an answer in 10mins)

Obviously, the answer was generic. (file is in process and no furthur intervention is required blah blah blah).

The inconsistencies of spousal immigration.

Just to prove the stories i was told about my file from different call center agents over the span of a year.

1st agent: "file is transfered to islamabad."

2nd agent: "your file is in process"

3rd agent: "we are doing background checks in your file" (sure buddy)

4th agent: "your file is still in mississagua" (really??? utter garbage)

5th agent: "your file is in pakistan, in queue, picture it in a room where this alot of files blah blah and they will work on it asap." (thanks for making me imagine my file)

6th agent: "file is in ottawa."

7th agent: "I really can't tell you we dont have the ability to get detailed info" (thanks for making me wait 20min for this answer)

8th agent: "pakistan has a 26month timeline (back then), you will have to wait patiently" (Oh i didn't know that)

There you go my history with call center agents. Thus, i stopped calling. (Call every month to hear a different story).

Then who should we believe? Some say dont believe on ecas some say dont believe on emails some say dont believe on agents even some say dont believe on transfer letter

Just believe in Allah. No disappointment in that. CHC/CIC will only disappoint you.

Then according to your details people here share utter crap.. Cuz they come up with long mails from CIC to share with us (even those mails have typos in it) :S

No, people here share information that is provided to them from (cic/chc). If it's "utter crap" then so be it. Its not the peoples fault, were just a bunch of audiences in this show called "the waiting game"

Its really heart breaking:(

Im sorry, i didn't mean to make you sad. Its just i learned the hard way. I had high hopes, regarding the immgiration. Month after month i get disappointed, you know. Paid over 1000 dollors for quebec and canada. Not knowing anything about our files for a year. I told my wife it will only take maximum a year (what was i thinking lol) and we will be together. But its not reality and it just makes life hard. Thats why, you will see forum members tell you not to think too much about it. You will just get angry, confused and depressed. One thing is for sure, you will be together one day In sha Allah.

Did you make a package and send the documents to Ottawa or did you scan them to the Ottawa email address so they can place it as part of your electronic file?

So about a month ago I had sent in additional documents from our Rukhsati and Valima, as when we had filed our application it was nikkah only. The call centre confirmed that our file was in Ottawa and had not been transferred out to Islamabad......I had emailed ottawa-pilot to confirm if in fact the additional documents had reached.....in response I get a letter stating that our file is being processed by the visa office in Islamabad....ottawa has part of our 'physical' file, and the rest will be processed by an officer in Islamabad.

I understand that the more we think about this and analyze it....the crazier one gets....but still, why could everything not happen from one spot. Oh to add icing to the cake, I called the call centre today and got a not so cheery lady who said well we can't check anything and cannot confirm where the file is.

Why must spouses go through such a complicated process to be with the one they love? Nobody plans to fall in love abroad.....like really?! UGH!

found a ticket from calgary to Houston to doha to karachi and way back I have to stay overnight in houston ..about $1400 thru united airlines and qatar airways. long stay as well. hope all goes well.

I sent them in a package and made photo copies to keep for myself. To whomever mentioned that it is a long waiting game....it sure as hell is, and quite hefty on the pocket too. Inshallah we will all be reunited with our spouses permanently in good time. =) Hva

Even with the FIFO method, not all timelines are the same ... some are straightforward for the VO, and they get processed right away, others take longer to process, so even though they may get picked up by a VO for initial assessment using the FIFO method, they don't always finish within the same timeframe. So a VO might pick up 3 cases, one which he gets completed in say 15months, another in 18months, and then another in 30months, but since they are also picking up a new file after finishing the first application, then the 4th application in line (assuming no one else picks one up in between) will be terminated at the same time as the third (3rd one took from month 0 to month 30, but the 4th one took from month 16, ie after the first one finished, to month 30). its this different processing times that mix up the true FIFO methodology.

it would be even worst if they did it by batch and had to hold back a batch just because they were still processing one application of the 10 (for example) that are in that batch. when you look at the GCMS notes, the VO will include a BFD (bring forward date) which is a reminder to them on when to look at the file again if no new documents have been received yet. It usually happens that they will request document from you, or for a security check, medical, etc., and they place a BFD depending on when they expect the document back, so the longer these documents take to return to them the longer your processing becomes.

also don't forget that the medical report comes from new delhi, they are the regional medical office and your medical exam results go to them for review, so that adds delays because they process the medical exam results of multiple CHCs in that area of the world.

So even though the file is picked up in a FIFO fashion, all of these factors play a role in changing the processing times so that the files are not finished in a FIFO fashion.
Thanks for the reply Reflectoman. I wish CHC would keep us uptodate and let us know at least whats been done on our file so far!!! Keeping us in suspense is not fair. What do you think!!
