Why don't you email both Ottawa and Islamabad to find out the location of your file? If Islamabad doesn't have the file then they will tell you so. If Ottawa has your file then they will tell you it is being processed.

Islamabad didn't reply, I sent them an email twice in the past 2 months.

Can someone confirm the Ottawa email address for me please ?

Did you email Ottawa and did they reply?

I emailed them just now.. so let's see what happens!

Some things to keep in mind:

1. Stage 1 approval can come from either CPC-Mississauga, or from CPP-Ottawa. Ours came from Ottawa by email, which was a surprise. That means they internally send some files to CPP-O to process, the applicant is not advised about this. It is better to wait for approval email/letter so that you receive the proper notice about file transfer, whether its going to lvo or it stays in cpp-ottawa until finalization.

2. It takes about 1 month on average, for a file to be received and indexed at the visa office. Meaning, that it takes time for files to be received and put into the visa office processing systems. So give them some time like a month after file transfer before you start asking them about the file whereabouts.

Islamabad has a lot of sponsorship cases so it takes more time and not many visa officers due to security situation. It is not a place where most diplomats want to go and live. Used to be nice decades ago, but not anymore.

Their client service sucks. They are not good at all in responding to inquiries nor do they provide the desired responses specific to questions. Other visa offices are prompt and reply quickly and to the point according to the inquiry if its reasonable.

You can always order GCMS notes to check the file status if you're not certain. Of course you will need to do it with Access to Information with $5 payment, and authorized forms filled/signed by the sponsored person so that their GCMS is released to the sponsor. Otherwise you will just end up with FOSS notes.

If a file is in process of transfer, do not inquire on it as you will only confuse yourself and worry unnecessarily. Wait at least a month or 2 AFTER the transfer to inquire about status of file.

It is useless to ask Pakistani govt officials as they only care about corruption. Don't expect the Canadian govt to listen to Rabbani or anyone. Even for some trade shows the Canadian govt was not even considering letters from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry to grant visas, so what makes you think they will listen to anyone else. Only your MP can help you in some ways.

Its been years since there was an audit by CIC of the Islamabad office, I wonder when they will do it again because one seems to be necessary in order for everyone to know what's going on and why it sucks so much in client service unlike other offices around the world.

Dear gorum members i called to the call centre today morning. And the call centre representative told me that my file is still in Ottawa though i received an email from ottawa in october that my file has been forwarded to islamabad. But today i found its still in ottawa. I am planing to send them a letter as a courrier mail because i found few weeks later after applying for my husband that i am pragnent so i am sending them doctor note indicating my expected date to ottawa just in case if they didn't added it into my file before. I know some people arround me whos file is still in ottawa though they received a letter from mississauga or from ottawa saying that file is being transfored.
I think our member is right that ottawa is doing initial verification once its done here ottawa will order to islamabad that issue the visa to the person.

Ottawa pilot project rule is still mistery.
If some one know any lawyer or consultant pls ask them about ottawa pilot project role and lets us all know what ever you hear

"For all forum members who think their contact address is written wrong in ecas"
It is not wrong, they just shorten it at times, they can't fit it in the box. They have your correct address.

Congrats, but pregnancy will not accelerate your file much.

But CPP-Ottawa will sure be faster than Islamabad, lol. Actually anything will be faster than Islamabad.

One thing which accelerates things is how well the file is organized and presented. If it is a mess it will take longer.

How to get MP involved.

1. Every MP has a immigration consultant. (Most MP sit in Ottawa for house assembly).
2. In detail explain to MP's immigration consultant or MP (if available), your file details and reason for contact. (file #, DOB, Visa office ect..)
3. It is better to call MP office then Email them. (Faster reply)
4. Once MP is attained, get Monthly reports. (Not more, Not a good idea to harrass them)
5. When calling CIC call center, tell them you have a MP involved (Will get better service, most of the time)
6. Not all MP are nice or willing to help (depends on your luck).

For members not getting CHC-ISB email reply's

Most important fact is, that when you email ISB, you should within a 24 hours recieve a automated response. Stating your email has been sent and that you will get a reply with 15 days. (Biggest lie ever!). If you don't get an automated reply, then your file never reached their database. You won't ever get a reply. They were having this glitch in the summer months....

P.S: though their were some odd cases that still got a reply, automated response is key.

HI SD1234,

Please follow the offical instruction.

EDIT: You will be ordering under the "Access to Information Act". Forms can be found here:

You can follow the details in the following thread. For your case, instead of giving your spouse's information as mentioned in the post, it will be your in-law's.
