No they did not tell me the status. I found few days ago that they made a spelling mistake in my wife's mailing address. So i called them next morning and asked if i can get that fixed. The rep took my info and told me to contact the Ottawa Pilot Center. Since my file is still here and hasn't been sent aboard. And she sent me an email:

Well thats what I meant by "status" as in whereabouts of the file ..

I feel its useless to directly email them. They usually send out automated response. Its much better to get your MP involved only then they release more information.

yes you are right. I am worried now, so i think only way out is to go to my MP and request him. I was gona wait till January and go. But i will go sooner then that, But again Christmas vacations are coming up if i request to my MP in December it might be delayed.

I dont exactly know the reply times. I think it takes anywhere from about a few weeks to a month or more. There is no harm in contacting ur MP right now since its only december 5th.

I think we have had a few people saying " finally our MP replied"

Bro i think u have to use both ways 1st email to Ottawa and then wait 15days for their reply and i am sure they'll reply on your email.

If they will not reply then call to your mp office and make an appointment or can walk in. he/she will let u know if they need to make an appointment.

We are suffering just because we live in Pakistan. I read timeline of Indian applicants and most of them who applied in june or july this year have got their pprs and visas and some of them have even landed in Canada. Pata nahi pakistani applicants se kia dushmani hai poori duniya ko!

My timeline is similar to yours, I think I will go to my MP's office tomorrow and send an inquiry to ISB to find out where my file is exactly. I don't want to regret later on saying "I should have went earlier".

I am still debating though, the last thing I want is mess anything up cuz I did receive the letter in which says file has been transferred but I am so skeptical!

Why don't you email both Ottawa and Islamabad to find out the location of your file? If Islamabad doesn't have the file then they will tell you so. If Ottawa has your file then they will tell you it is being processed.

Your file is still with them because they are working on it. I believe what we are seeing in Ottawa is a centralization of previously distributed processes- much like how it is in the USA. In the USA if you sponsor your wife- 90 % of the assessment is done in the USA. The US embassy in Islamabad just takes in the medicals, conducts an interview if necessary and then issues the visa.

Compare this to the archaic rules that we still have in Canada! For example sending inland immigration applications to the USA (thank god they closed Buffalo!), having to leave the country and then re-enter so that you can become a 'landed' immigrant! None of this happens in the USA. Imagine if the US government started sending their immigration applications to consulates in Canada! Insane.

I emailed Ottawa Pilot last night regarding my wife's Pakistani mailing address typo, and have not received any reply yet. May be its too early or could be because i did not add the File number in the subject. Well i will wait and see what happens. What i don't understand is that how come my file is still with them. Even thought i received a letter saying my file was sent to Islamabad. Is it common for the file to stay in Ottawa Processing Pilot after the first stage?
