Hi all, hope all is good and well with everyone out here.

I have gathered lots from here, but its a bit scattered info now. Can someone guide me to a terminology thread so I can understand all these AOR's Caips, gsmc?'s abbreviations etc... and also a simple timeline or what to expect once the file is transfered. I see people posting several different things on how they view their file status etc, how can i do the same.

My info. Nikah in Dec 2010. Went to pak for rukhsati in Nov 2011. Gathered and combined all relevant info and proofs and sent it on Mar 6 2012.
Got an email from OTT Pilot that my file has been transfered on May 31, 2012 to ISL.

what to expect next... plus i intend to visit my wife again in NOV/DEC this year... and after i return i will send up to date proofs etc to isl ...

also how do i update my user on the left side under the user name... like others have a time line etc...

My wife called me @ 2:30 am and gave me this good news. We had no idea that the passport will come in 30 days as it was Re-med and PPR together. I checked the E-case after I got off the phone with her and it was updated to Decision made along with the addition of Canadian address.

This is the day we waited for 17 months and finally Allah has listened to all our prayers. We believe that there is a day and time for everything and its all planned by Allah. We are really really happy and still it feels like a dream to us. Me and my wife are really thankful to everyone on this forum who has helped us get through this tough time and guided us.

May Allah bring this day to all of you very soon and unite you with your loved ones ... I will be coming to the forum to answer any questions.. feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions

This seems to be very active forum. I have few questions regarding form 5490.

1. Question 3: my mom arranged the marriage. should i say that mom introduced me to the sponsor?

2. Question 15. formal ceremony to celebrate marriage. I signed nikkah nama on mehndi day. Should I say that mehndi was a formal ceremony to celebrate marriage?

3. Question 30. Financial support from your sponsor. My wife is doing house job in Mayo Hospital after graduating this year. She doesn't really need financial assistance as she is living with her parents. Do I still need to send her money. As a minimum, I am planning to write $200 /3 months.

4. Was there a reception? Do i need to provide details about Rukhsati and Walima here if I provide details about Mehndi in Question 15?

5. If my wife is doing house job, is he a considered as a government employee? She receives stipend and the job or internship is for 1 year only. Should she write that she is a government employee?

i will answer your questions from my knowledge and experience so far...

1. my friend be simple and honest in your filing, the more twists you put in to make case look pleasing, the more chances of messing up later on or things appearing dodgy. no harm in saying mom introduced the two of you together.

2. this question is asking was there a ceremony for nikkah/wedding itself, although mehndi is a separate event, but if you had a hybrid event then write it as is... for example, we invited family and guests for mehndi and nikah on Jun 4th 2050, first we held the mehndi event which was followed by the nikah on the same evening/day etc.... then write about whether ur wife if she had a ceremony in pakistan at the same time. for example my nikah was over phone, so we had ceremony here in a hall and there in pak at the same time. basically whatever was the situation say so, and provide the proof. its the proof that counts, no matter where u had the wedding. you can show u sent invites by wedding cards, emails, greeting cards, or even in person etc... or a mix of any of those.... that question asks for further information about religion attendees etc... answer all that relevant info aswell.

3. this form is basically from behalf of your wife, one of the forms she has to fill, so u can fill it for her but do mention in your cover letter that this was the case. for financial even though she works and earns, no harm in you sending her money to spend on herself being her husband, only a positive.

4. reception here is the rukhsati... not mehndi or nikah... if you had rukhsati even if on the same day, still detail here, if on different day, then again detail here, if not yet, then write why not and when do you plan on doing so... please note that no rukhsati means your case may face longer times or rejections (thats what i have absorbed/learned from these boards on this issue)... also mostly they send you a request for rukhsati to be done and i believe only give you 45 days time limit, and re-medical etc along with it... so you are gona be in a really sticky situation... point to be noticed - get rukhsati done if not already the case... also provide lots of proof, travel tickets, pics, receipts etc... no amount of proof is too much...

5. i do not know about this question hopefully someone with more knowledge on this matter can assist you, i think best would be she inquire from the hospital/employer (may also depend on it a gov hospital or private one).

overall provide as much detail and proofs as possible and in a chronological order works the best. best of luck to you mate.

I have gathered lots from here, but its a bit scattered info now. Can someone guide me to a terminology thread so I can understand all these AOR's Caips, gsmc?'s abbreviations etc... and also a simple timeline or what to expect once the file is transfered. I see people posting several different things on how they view their file status etc, how can i do the same.

My info. Nikah in Dec 2010. Went to pak for rukhsati in Nov 2011. Gathered and combined all relevant info and proofs and sent it on Mar 6 2012.
Got an email from OTT Pilot that my file has been transfered on May 31, 2012 to ISL.

what to expect next... plus i intend to visit my wife again in NOV/DEC this year... and after i return i will send up to date proofs etc to isl ...

also how do i update my user on the left side under the user name... like others have a time line etc...

i got married in Nov 2011. and i send my application in feb and receieved the approval in early may.

and i also plan on visiting my husband in NOV/DEC this year.. and just like you i will send them the date proofs and etc

pak visit karne se case pe bohat zyada positive asar ho ga... it will show them that your marriage is continuing, shows genuineness, also when you visit spend lots of time with your husband, take loads and loads of pics, with relatives of all sorts, his and urs (if not related before marriage)... take pics of u two from outings, save reciepts etc from shoppings, from restaurants etc... and if rukhsati is not done then have that done, it will only help ur case as if you look at peoples cases here that only have nikkahs done are getting rukhsati requests with a time limit of 45 days... it has happened to a friend of mine, us ne sirf nikah kiya howa hai since 09 and hasnt visited his wife, his mom visited back home this year thinking that is good enough, but they got a letter requesting rukhsati with a time limit just the other day...

yes we have done the ruksati and reception is also done..

i have my 3 weeks off in nov/dec and hopefully i will get to spend much time with him and his family..
