No, the in-laws have no bearing on the case whatsoever. They only decide the case on the two people involved and how genuine their marriage comes across.

Yes i have read different threads and then i decided to join this site. My in laws are also canadian nationals for last 13 years so would it be a plus point in my case?

AOA
One thing i forgot to mention yesterday is that i applied for Canadian visit visa in April 2011. I was refused and following reasons were given:
1) Your travel history
2) Immigration status
3) Purpose of visit
We planned for visit visa to apply for immigration once i will be in Canada due to the long processing times.

Even if the sponsor is Citizen it doesn't matter, the case is treated same way as if the sponsor was a Permanent Resident. Its no surprise that your visit VISA was refused many people have applied in the past and 95% of the applications were refused. It doesn't matter what reasons they give you for rejecting; the main reason is that they don't trust the person would come back since their spouse is living in Canada.

hello everyone,

what does it mean if its written 'in process' , should i expect that they are reviewing my file???

Maybe the June applicants dont mind joining the June thread here http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/june-2011-t74210.0.html

There's also a spreadsheet for June applicants https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0AqGLhMqzZEMHdG5yX1JSeDdaT05FWnllRnNwSWpGamc&output=html

Its too early to say if they are reviewing it. Ecas is not reliable. But, you never know, let's hope for the best! :)

'in process' means the file is created and it is in process! it will change to 'decision made' once the decision has been made...

It is a false statement. I got my visit visa 1 month back. My spousal visa is still under process.
I visited my wife 2 weeks back. Just that you need to have a good travel history, plus good job here in pakistan. They just need an assurity that you will come back.

Yes you are right.
They just want the assurance that the visitor will come back.
How long it has been since your application filed?
