I know that even private planes are not allowed and that is my point that they might give exemptions after thirty days which suits Canada citizens. Also if they are allowing entry to Indians from airports outside India then they could have setup a lab at airports or atleast nearby airports and do a pcr test there and give results in 4 to 6 hours. Last year this was process at Delhi airport where pcr tests were conducted and results were given in 6 hours after which only a passenger was allowed to go.
I am very optimistic that they will come up with better screening process and things will get normal.
Don’t think any government is going to make it easier for people to leave India when the rates of covid are so high. Nobody wants to import cases into their country, risk exposing whole planes including crew and a negative PCR test doesn’t mean you’re not going import Covid. It’s not up to any government to make it easier for people living in India to travel. Even if they set up PCR labs you may have to quarantine in the country for 10-14 days according to current rules unless the labs were in the transit areas. Unfortunately I don’t think travel will return to normal until the situation in India changes drastically.

The same was the case with USA last year, and they were allowed to travel to most countries. Why the hypocrisy??

Canada's relationship to the US is very different. The fact that we have had land border controls for over a year is unheard of so there have been some border controls. The US wasn't a variant case so not the exactly same situation.

doing this right on the verge of the beginning of May intake is an unfortunate news for students. Better put in place a 14 day hotel quarantine, those who can afford to pay for it can come and others can defer coming for a month. Variants don't disappear, we saw that with the UK variant, the Brazilian as well as the South African one. You just can't stop this by stopping air travel. It is most likely already spread throughout the world. And yes we paid our hard earned money to come to Canada and study and get experience, and if we had to study online, we would better take a cheap course on coursera or udemy.

Bro here no one understand this,, everyone think that its our fault that we selected to study in canada so don't try to discuss anything as their last argument is "why you want to travel to canada as everything is online" but they don't understand that as we have paid fees plus we have to stay up for night . They just tell one thing stay in your country even after we are agreeing to follow all the protocols that government of canada decides from quarantine and everything.

Gist of it is getting vaccinated. All these restrictions can only help little but getting vaccinated is what is required at this time.

Getting vaccinated does not permit you to fly to Canada at the moment. I'm sure this isn't what you meant, but I wanted to clarify for people reading.

You can stop spread of virus by control international travel from hot spots. AU and NZ have good success stories. New variants are imported, and it is best to deal with current situation than leaving border open. Thats common sense approach

Having a 14 day quarantine will not stop this variant from spreading to other passengers. Canada doesn't not have the capacity to deal with large number of imported cases when we are struggling to deal with our own population. Don't fool yourself that people would accept a paid quarantine either. Lots of posts of people complaining about the 3 day quarantine, asking to share quarantine hotels or airbnbs, living with extended family and not isolating, etc. If people were quarantining properly Canada shouldn't have community spread of the new variant which it does. Agree that we should shut our doors to Brazil but the number of people entering from Brazil is significantly less than India and there are no direct flights so you can't compare the problem.

Studies are online so there isn't a need to be in Canada and you have the ability to defer the start of your studies.

u wont understand what students here in India r going thru..u think its easy to wake up till 5 am in the morning to attend lectures, then do assignments in the afternoon and not get enough sleep??..im not debating about whether the restrictions that canada put up are right or wrong..im just saying that u dont have to tell students that "theres no need to be in Canada since studies are online".. students have invested lakhs to study in canada..if they want to come and the govt is allowing, they will come even tho their studies are studies are online because students have invested their money not u..students work hard part time also and they have their dreams to achieve..if the govt allows, we as students will enter canada keeping in mind all precautions

You were able to enter for months. Anyone starting classes soon can defer their admission. When it comes to working part-time many of the industries that often employ students are closed so you shouldn't expect that a part-time job will be possible.

And the residents are worried about importing new variants and not international students waking up at 5am to attend lecturers. Infact, you will be waking up even before 5am anyway when you are in Canada for either completing your assignments or transit to work or school. Its normal, and we dont get enough sleep too. Part of life. How do you save lives and reopen your economy if borders are open from hotspot? I hope i am not trying to be selfish, so is you. Restrictions will always be lifted when situation in India/Pakistan is stable

If you get to sleep at all... I hardly ever got sleep when I was studying. Assignments and projects left and right. Then add your part time job to the fray. In class, you would find it common to see international students falling asleep. Most part time jobs were night shift, the shift most people don’t want to take for obvious reasons. And these were pre-pandemic days.
