Canada adopts lottery system for immigrants to reunite parents, grandparents

Hi All

I arrived in Canada on Aug 06, 2013 but stayed only for 1 month. My Tax for year 2013 was filed at $ 0

I actually start working and living in Canada from Jan 2014. I have T4s /NOA for following year
2013 - 0
2014 - 99K
2015 - 95 K
2016 - will be filed by April and probably NOA will come by July 2017 Total income is 88 K

Can I apply my Father Immigiration visa in Jan 2016

U will know by 9th jan. Present rule but now osolete require 3 year NOA. New rules and related as what is income limit and number of years. U could find out on 9th jan

I know the major reason why this is being brought in is because of the health care burden.

So why don't they allow parents/grand parents to come in but the sponsor has to take mandatory insurance for x amount of years. I know its an extra burden on the sponsor but at least we can have our families. Everything boils down to "MONEY" so if that's what they want, they can ask that... :'( :'(

They already have something like that, its called a super visa

Why would you say obsolete? There has been absolutely nothing mentioned about changes to the requirements of the program, only to the selection process. There is pretty much no chance that the income requirements will be changed.

I'm wondering what was the total # of applications sent in 2016.
want to know what the odds of winning is.

one website said 14k in first three days...
obviously with 30 days window, there will be more... let's say worst case, 20k?
that's still 50% chances of winning, which isn't too too bad....

I doubt it will be 50%, as you have to remember, they're giving everyone 30 days to enter the lottery, but only 10K will be accepted after the 30 days. During that time period, there's likely to be lots of people applying.

As I suggested before you should apply for a super visa.

Why would you think income requirement would change? 3 year income requirement will still remain. CIC don't even set the annual LICO. A different department sets the LICO. CIC simply add 30% to LICO to qualify.

If so, I seriously hope they read the above. I live in Victoria be, so last year I failed because I did not contact any local courier. If what you listed is the process, I am happy, because it makes sense. However, I am very worried that this is not the case. The information asked for the lottery does not look like include sin number or income. Lucky people, I hope it is me, will submit until May. Cic will not be able to find applications that do not meet the financial cutoff line probably very late in the year and then the year ends!

You cannot apply in 2017 as you are required to meet income requirement for 2013, 2014 and 2015. You can apply in 2018.

You are not eligible as you missed 1 NOA of 2013. Please do not apply as it is not fair for other since you will be rejected even if you got a spot.

I have NOA for 2013 but income is only 14 K in that. As i mentioned i was landed immigrant in Aug 2013. Need fair reply instead of pushing me back to apply. Dont worry I will not take any risk unless i will meet all requirement.

You cannot apply in 2017 as you are required to meet income requirement for 2013, 2014 and 2015. You can apply in 2018.

Sorry I cannot sign this petition in which geographical location has an advantage over others. (ie pay couriers to get front of line that is only offered in GTA area).

I am all for equal treatment of chance of PGP program. The old system of first come first serve does not allow equal chance for everyone. Rich sponsors and those in GTA cannot have an leg up over those who are not.
