The latter is wishful thinking, at least from my side. I suspect July 1st, Canada Day, is a target they have in mind. Not sure if Johnston will give assent...

Very Short time .. I saw tens of Bills .. Never saw something coming into force that soon.

only need to survive 2 more days, 2 freaking days

You are wrong, there are 5 more senate days.

2 more days this week and 3 days next week.

5 days is more than enough time to finish committee and third reading.

:-X

Maybe he meant he needs 2 days to be eligible to send his application!

Doesn't mean this one must be the same :) Just like people can't judge you based on what your siblings do. Every law has its own merit and different incentives from government to pass. It would be nice to see it delayed, but we probably should be more realistic at this stage.

just a quick question,

who can tell me
1 when is the third reading?
2 when is the committee review

I know royal assessment can be the same day of third reading.

i am referring when my application can reach Sydney, N.S
it turns out it will be on friday.
so unless they pass 3rd reading and receive royal assent on the 20th, i should be safe?
now it makes me nervous

I am listening to the broadcast and see how the debate goes.
if it jumps to report stage by the end of tonight, this bill can be up for 3rd reading on thursday.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwww

If you are watching the committee clause by clause, it looks like it is a "DRAMA".

I wonder how can so many senators go thru such a long bill along with other bills in such a short time and debate and vote on this. Is this democracy? Honestly, this is a weird democracy. Does it make sense to read and go thru so many pages and understand in such a short time. To me it looks like a joke to them.

Government doesn't care at all.

Even for sponsorship for parents and grandparents CIC had consultations. How come Citizenship is less important and doesn't need any consultation? I guess CIC just want a way to stop receiving applications for citizenship and thats how they want to reduce backlogs. Because they can not return the applications like CIC did for certain other programs or stop receiving like sponsorship.

Every amendment defeated 7:4. Dejavu of the HoC. There will be no surprises there,it's just empty talk.

i am preparing for the worst, which means it pass 3rd reading and receives royal assent this friday.
shame on this government

Today was the last straw! WTF?? They are laughing inside the committee? They take this for a joke? They laugh, while we're being literally screwed! There is nothing funny about that **** laughing. I AM PISSED OFF! They don't respect their citizens or residents. I would never expected such a thing from a "1st world country"!
