democracy sounds good on paper but it sucks big time in reality. there would never been a civil movement or gay marriage amendment if democracy prevailed.

I am a month away from applying for Citizenship. Feel cheated that when I applied for PR it was 3 years after that I was able to apply for Citizenship. It's ok Canada. I will wait another year! No harm to me. But I ain't voting the Cons when I become a Citizen.

Now let's hope this government lowers our taxes and creates more jobs for everyone. Will they do it? I guess not!

Any thoughts on the following?

This document (http://www.parl.gc.ca/Content/LOP/LegislativeSummaries/41/2/c24-e.pdf) states that most of the provisions of C-24 will take effect on "a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council". Section 2.9.3.2 specifically identifies these "subsequent" changes as including "new requirements for naturalization and revocation". So, the date when applications for citizenship will have to conform to the new law is still unknown, and may not even be this year.

Again...they do NOT take effect immediately!

They had their say by voting Conservative in the last federal election. Maybe they'll vote more wisely in 2015.
