Yes, CBC is wrong. The Bill is STILL being debated and has not even had extra amendments voted on yet. I, and many others on here, am listening to LIVE Senate proceedings. Anything else is pure conjecture.

But pure conjecture is what this thread is all about! Why should your personal observation that the bill hasn't passed yet interfere with that? I say it's law!

Again...most of C-24 will NOT take effect when Royal Assent is granted. The section pertaining to applying for citizenship will NOT take effect today or tomorrow. So, calm down.

what the hell ? How can they update the article at 2:54 PM to include C-24 when it is still being debated.

Makes it looks so cheesy...as if it is all cooked and fixed like a cricket or football match !

whats with all these rants about creating two classes of citizens? there are ALREADY two classes of citizens. one who can pass citizenship to their children and one who can't. one who can sponsor their spouse for PR without any travel plans and one who need to travel back to canada.

a citizen staying abroad can't sponsor his/her spouse for PR unless they make plans to return back to canada. in some cases, they are forced to renounce their visa/travel cards in the current country of residence.

so suppose a canadian working in abu dhabi marry an indian just as he starts his 2 years work there. he can't start his sponsorship for his wife to canada till the end of work period, at which time the spouse may not be able to return back with him to canada.
