I am now a computer science master in a BC university. I want to apply for the International Post Graduate(skilled immigration) stream under BCPNP since I dont have work experience and probably not an instant offer after graduation. I have several problems:

1. Does this stream(or even BCPNP skilled immigration) have a limitation for each year? If it does, how do they process the applicants, are they gonna be put into next year's allocation or do they have to apply again next year(probably act earlier)?
2. Do I have to physically reside in BC when I am applying for the PNP and the PR? How about going outside of Canada while applying for PNP and PR and making a commitment that after PR is granted I will move back to BC?
3. If I meet the minimum requirement, is it nearly for sure that I will be nominated? Or do they select the most desired applicants to nominate among all the applicants even if other applicants meet the minimum requirement?
4. Can I take a job that is not related to my major(computer science) or even be unemployed after graduation while still get the PNP?

Thanks a lot for answers or suggestions! :) :) :)

I have applied BC PNP IPG steam(non PNP) on Jan 27, nominated on March 4th, and received nomination certificate on March 29, so I can give you answers on your questions

1. This category has higher priority than other stream, most people will receive nomination around 2 months, if there is not enough allocation this year, you will allocate to next year's cap.

2. During the process the officer of BC PNP will call you and do the phone interview, and the officer will ask your intention to stay in BC permanently in different ways, I strongly suggest you to stay in BC while the application is in process.

3. If you meet the requirement and show intention to reside in BC, you will get nomination for sure.

4. You can do anything you want after graduation, since job offer is not the requirement under this stream, as long as you show intention to reside in BC(very important!). However, after the nomination, the CIC will ask you to show that you can economically established in Canada, so it's better to have a job while your application is sent to CIC.

Thanks so much for the reply.
The first 3 answers seems greatly clear.
I am not sure about the 4th answer. Say I graduate with a Computer Science Master degree and I am doing an unrelated job while my PR is in process with CIC and probably the pay is not as good as an IT job but still good enough for me to support my family. Does it satisfy the potential economically establishment requirement(though they don't ask for that explicitly)?
Thanks again for the prompt & clear reply!

If your job can support yourself and dependents, that's good enough. CIC doesn't say this clearly but they will take this into consideration.

Hi, wicaact
Thanks for your reply. I am considering the other ways to satisfy the economically establishment requirement(just in case I cannot find such a job, which is not very likely to happen). Say if I own several properties that can be used as rental income, or I can show bank statements that showing lots of money on them, does it also meet CIC's requirement?

Send out sufficient proof of funds(around 20K if it's one person, consult minimum income requirement in welcomebc.ca ) should be good.

that sounds good thanks so much

I am about to do one year masters program in Victoria called Masters in Data Science (MADS). So i want to know that can i apply under EEBC International post graduate category without work experience or not? I know that job offer is not required but what about work ex?

And moreover, the EEBC category says that applicant should meet one of the IRCC immigration policies, like federal skilled, federal trade and canadian experienced. In these all work ex is required that means i should have work ex right?

You can apply for PR within the BC PNP IPG category in two ways: 1) Express Entry (online) or 2) Paper based.

For 1) you need to meet the requirements of one of the Express Entry categories (FSW, CEC, or FST). That means you need work experience to meet those category requirements.

For 2) you don't need work experience because the application is handled outside of the Express Entry system.

Welcome to Victoria!

Thanks for answering!
As this is only one year program, i would be getting one year pgwp. So that would be very less time to gain work experience and then apply dor pr in EEBC IGP stream. So can you suggest me something so that i can have time to process my application?

1. Graduate and apply for PGWP.
2. Apply for PR via paper based PNP.
3. When your PGWP is about to expire, apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) based on your PR application in process.

Okay I'll keep that in mind.

One member on another forum suggested me that i should do 3 co-op as the program permits for co-op, and then that co-op will lead to two year masters degree, and then i can get 3 year pgwp. Is this possible according to you?

I don't know if coop terms extend PGWP duration. Search the international student section of this forum. Others have probably asked that question before.

hey there,)) just had a query for my friends spouse...>> she had a pgwp but returned from canda because of family reason. Now she wants to get back and found a good program in one of the eligible unis. Now she is not eligible for pgwp because she has used before. but could she be still eligible for postgraduate bc pnp once she graduates? Could you throw some insights. Do we all have to be eligible for ppost graduate work permit to be eligible of rpost graduate stream bc pnp? Your views highly appreciated.
