A lot of people who were completely new to the process on here were asking if that meant that all applications would be processed in the same place, because someone they knew had told them that because that's what they had assumed. I think it just ended up causing more issues for them. I don't know. I'm glad they changed it back, but it's still not any more accurate than what it used to be. It's even more inaccurate now than it was originally because there used to be a chart that showed a break down of each processing time by each office. Now, it assumes that the application will be processed from what you select in the "where you are applying from" option. For example, because I'm from the US I put that and it said my application would take 17 (or so, I can't remember) months, because that's the time it takes to process 80% of applications through Los Angeles, but most Americans are processed in Ottawa. It's becoming more common for people's applications to get sent to offices with less of a backlog now, so you can see how that would be even more confusing. I really wish they would put the original chart back up.
I heard one applicant from March through Ottawa got DM right after their file transfer. That person isn't sure if it's a mistake or not yet though (eCAS isn't always accurate... we know this. They haven't received a COPR yet or anything). We could be looking at extremely fast times through Ottawa being the norm for a while. It's too soon to tell.
